Yea See!  Senders is on to something here.  With his usual logic, he has deduced that
Fighting half way across the world against an enemy who is trying his best to kill or seriously
wound you, IS JUST THE SAME THING AS A STAY AT HOME MOM!
They are practically identical!!!

Outstanding!!!

you know what is funny....you have no idea...the world is changing Box.....a war hero is not a hero any more than
any one else...why? because our public schools and the raising of our children are all about status quo....
EVERY child gets a trophy...not just the top dogs.....and only the 'officials' can tell you your value

you may have the military on a top shelf in your head, probably above the one your mother sits on

ooooooo.....war.....aaaaahhh....war.....

...you are a product of your environment, your environment is a product of your priorities, your priorities are a product of you......

The replacement of morality and conscience with law produces a deadly paradox.

So what is the purpose of showing their former status, is their some benefit from having it on there or is it just a gloating thing

There are businesses ( I know you and Cissy will never understand this) that offer a discount for veterans.

Lowes, Home Depot and many restaurants offer a discount to veterans.
Some state and federal parks offer free access to veterans.

The 'haters' don't get it but many Americans actually appreciate our service, while the 'haters' can only
ridicule it.

Yes, that's call discrimination.  There is nothing special about a service veteran.

Veterans get an additional 30% discount on their property taxes.

On top of STAR.

Veterans DO NOT get 30% discount.  If you serve during time of peace and no conflict, you don't get
a discount.  If you served during time of conflict you get 15%.  If you also served in a combat zone
you get an additional 10%

15% reduction in assessed value to veterans who served during a time of war
additional 10% reduction in assessed value to veterans serving in combat zones (includes recipients of expeditionary medals)
• additional reduction in assessed value to veterans who incur service-connected disabilities, equal to one-half of their service-connected disability ratings (regardless of whether such veterans served in combat zones)
• percentage-level benefits are subject to maximum dollar limits set by each taxing jurisdiction

Private businesses can give whatever discounts they want to whoever they want, I have no problem with that. I don't believe they should get public discounts when the citizens might have to make up the rest of the balance, that creates a higher class of citizen, something I thought you would be against.

Box, I don't know if you talk to current military, but I know personally that they BRAG about how their children's education will be paid as part of their service compensation.  So while I struggle to save enough to pay my bills and save for MY child's education, I have people in the color guard stationed at Stratton AFB bragging about their compensation.

This isn't Vietnam era anymore box, military is a business now.

Are you referring to eduction while they are on active duty?
Becuase dependants DO NOT get free education outside of going to Military base schooling
or off-base schools if there are non on base.  As for post high school, dependants have to pay
for their eduction just like anyone else.  Only the active duty member or Veteran qualifies
for the GI Bill for education.  I don't see anything that has changed over the years that
would have the Government paying for dependants.

In your view, I'm sure that is true.  The rest of America sees it differently.  This isn't something
that you can explain to the anti govt haters... it's a concept they will never understand.

I have no problem sharing a drinking fountain with most of America. Sharing with the anti govt
haters, since they would rather shut down the taxpayer funded fountain than offer water to
it's citizens, does leave a bitter taste for most of us.

I said a veteran isn't "special".  They are not a separate class of people.  You believe that the people that work to have their labor extorted to pay for their food, clothing, shelter, and weapons are less worthy of recognition.

And the citizen that owns a well drilling company that will drill a well for a fee, so they don't need to depend on the public water fountain is a dirty greedy capitalist.  He deserves no special recognition for dedicating his life to providing water.

Your word, not mine... "SPECIAL".  What does "SPECIAL" mean?

Dictionary.com
special

1.of a distinct or particular kind or character
2.being a particular one; particular, individual, or certain
3.pertaining or peculiar to a particular person, thing, instance, etc.; distinctive; unique
4.having a specific or particular function, purpose, etc.
5.distinguished or different from what is ordinary or usual

IMO, numbers 1, 4 and 5 do apply to Veterans.
