I do not like this metroplex Their PILOTS fill a rolodex I do not like handouts to the wealthy while our neighborhoods crumble and are so unhealthy I do not like it when the CEO double dips on STAR and employees of the city bring home city cars I do not like pay raises when Schenectady is deep in debt and has foreclosed on houses which the city leaves unkept I do not like half a million given to someone who makes a mess of buildings in the city, just look at DSS I do not like when city council shuts one member out When he is the only one who really knows what it's all about I do not like it at election time when people only vote for one party line I do not like Schenectady's high taxes and fees that's why so many want to flee I do not like litter, crime and dope I do not like it nope, nope, nope

I'd like to put it on the wall on the new Bridge of Shame. It would be educational. A nice mural around it, pictures of historic scenes, and pictures of the new Schenectady, a family could pose on the front lawn of the house they used to own, etc.(the new Schenectady massacre). Get permission from McDonald's Corp. to put McCheese on there, as well. Truly inspirational. |

send it in to the gazetto!!!!
AMEN to that!
Here RP, it starts like this:
Quoted Text
Dear Editor
As we Election Day 2013 is soon to be here in the City of Schenectady, we need do consider if we vote for the candidates of the current majority party or do we vote in new council representatives who will represent the people of the city instead of the non-resident rich downtown developers and non-resident city employees. With tax bill in one hand and pen in the other hand, I write:
But send it to the TU too in case McCheese puts a halt to it in the gazette. I will be looking forward to reading it. |

Well just submitted it to the Gazette with mikechristine1s intro.
I'll tell you, you really should go to a city council meeting and read that too. Preferably during a public hearing on the budget if it's held before election day. Check with Vince Riggi, you can look him up on the city's website, he'll actually answer his phone (the other ones don't bother I hear); he can tell you the date.
Quoted Text
"Yet another tax increase proposed. Yes. I believe I speak on behalf of all the taxpayers in the city--be they direct or indirect. With tax bills in one hand and a pen in the other, I had to write how I (we) feel: ..."
And maybe based on the "I speak on behalf," you might change the "I" to "we" in each instance---that's if you are talking at the council meeting. But that's entirely up to you Ideally you would have a copy of a couple tax bills, maybe two or three that either come from the city if you pay thru escrow or whatever they receipt when you make those installments - that would be a good visual. Not only will you be very applauded, I bet I could almost guarantee a standing ovation (and I wouldn't even need to be there ). I can hear Peggy King now, banging that gavel. |
