A new report from Macroeconomic Advisers argues that Congress's budget fights, debt-ceiling stand-offs, and spending cuts have cost the U.S. economy nearly 3 percent of GDP since 2010. That's roughly $700 billion in lost economic activity and more than 2 million lost jobs — all thanks to Congress.

I know a local businessman who was a 'moderate' Republican. He had a pre existing condition and couldn't afford health insurance. The few insurance companies that would insure him wanted thousands a month in premiums and the policy had a $10,000 deductible.
He managed (after several tries) to sign up for ObamaCare. As of Jan 1 he will have health insurance for the first time in decades.
He's now voting Democrat, both because of the success of ObamaCare and because of the Republican opposition to it.
He, and many like him are not your "FREE STUFF" Americans. They are good people without health care options, until NOW.

if we can get rid of 'preventative medicine' we could afford our emergent fixes.....people fail to take care of themselves long before they hit the doctor...and it's not for lack of knowing,,,,humans in this type of society are lazy and make choices in diet/exercise and basic human body living that may not agree with that person but does nothing to their neighbor.... that's OK...but national health insurance and all the crestor/viagra/humera/adderall/paxil/seroquel etc in the world does NOT fix the cause...they are dangerous bandaids to what is truly ailing us........

just a small example....not only will there be a federal fee/tax....there will also be a state fee/tax...which varies from state to state ON TOP of the premium. Deductibles and/or premiums will rise substantially yearly. Small businesses can get a tax break if they pay 50% or higher for their employees health insurance. And even tho the tax break will decrease yearly...the business will still be mandated to pay 50%. Some private insurance companies are mandated NOT to offer individual coverage. They MUST go to the exchange.

The McConnell-Reid bill not only funds Obamacare and suspends the debt limit, it ALSO includes a provision in Section 123 that increases the authorization for the Olmsted Lock in Kentucky from $775 million to nearly $3 billion. [quote]In exchange for funding Obamacare and raising the debt limit, Mitch McConnell has secured a $2 billion earmark.
This is an insult to all the Kentucky families who don't want to pay for Obamacare and don't want to shoulder any more debt.
McConnell may try to blame someone else for this, but he wrote the bill and it's not the first time he has sought funds for this project. He also requested $100 million for it in 2010.

They all spent MORE. It increased under every President in the graphs. What is so hard to understand? Maybe you didn't mean they cut, but spent less quickly, since I never seen the national debt go down.
Just be honest, you can admit that they are all spending increases. Just say democrats will increase spending less quickly than the Republicans historically. But don't be dishonest and try to say an increase in spending is a spending cut.
The deficit had it's first growth spurt during the Reagan years.
He talked about trickle down and decentralization of government.
He cut taxes for the rich creating more investment, but he failed to reduce the federal government one tiny bit.
In fact he grew the government larger.
The government along with the new enlarged government spending has outgrown the revenues by miles.
They keep getting more credit cards in the mail from China, and can't stop activating them, then max them out as quick as they can.
