What Pope Francis Can Teach The GOP
Quoted Text
With his softer message on gay and divorced families, the Pope has figured out what the
Republicans haven’t grasped—you’ve got to tone it down if you want to keep a modern flock.

Yesterday, when the Vatican released the pope's latest statement offering a softer tone toward the
gay community than pontiffs in the past, it suggested that the Catholic Church may have figured out
what the Republican Party hasn’t yet grasped—that the fading of the institution’s flock can only truly
be addressed by reversing some of the fading norms driving the flock from the fold.

One example, failed Virginia Republican gubernatorial candidate Ken Cuccinelli saying about gay rights,
“I cannot support something that I believe brings nothing but self-destruction, not only physically but
of their soul."

  Versus Pope Francis saying,
“If someone is gay and seeks the Lord with good will, who am I to judge?"

The Pope’s words offer some wisdom for the sagging and outdated GOP.  Now Pope Francis has gone
a step further, expressing compassion for gay families as well as families of divorce, both of which are
perennial Republican targets in their puritanical and antiquated push for conservative morality.

The modern conservative is engaged in one of man's oldest exercises in moral
philosophy; that is, the search for a superior moral justification for selfishness.

which also includes the stupid 'fair share' talk.....

if someone is gay, I don't care
if someone spends their $ on stupid things(cell phones, hair, artificial nails, bling bling) and is poor, I don't care
if someone keeps getting pregnant because they think they should, I don't care

I'm not here to judge and if you ask my advice/opinion be prepared to take the answer, and, I don't care what you do with it either.

...you are a product of your environment, your environment is a product of your priorities, your priorities are a product of you......

The replacement of morality and conscience with law produces a deadly paradox.

The more you tell everyone that you don't care only proves that you do care.

I care for myself and my choices....if you make a choice that I may/not agree with it may/not make me sad/angry/happy
but it's not my business and I can't know your heart/soul/intentions.....

YOU are a sovereign human being with a force inside you that you have to deal with....I can help/assist if you ask
but I cannot put my belief above yours...it's your short lived life on this earth as is mine....

do I 'care'? sure, but not in the sense that most folks put it into some kind of obscure subjective term that changes with
the popes/politicians/mob rule....

do I pay attention? YOU BETCHA....
