Super Rich For Getting Mega-Salaries And Leaving ‘Crumbs’ For The PoorPope Francis is once again calling out the super rich for being greedy and leaving nothing but mere “crumbs” for the rest of us. The December 8th message titled “Fraternity, the Foundation and Pathway to Peace” calls upon governments around the world to institute economic policies to curb greed among the super rich.
Quoted Text
“The grave financial and economic crises of the present time … have pushed man to seek satisfaction, happiness and security in consumption and earnings out of all proportion to the principles of a sound economy… The succession of economic crises should lead to a timely rethinking of our models of economic development and to a change in lifestyles.”
“We need, then, to find ways by which all may benefit from the fruits of the earth, not only to avoid the widening gap between those who have more and those who must be content with the crumbs, but above all because it is a question of justice, equality and respect for every human being.”

they are only super rich because we give value to managed populations via the fiat for trade....
why doesn't the pope tear down churches and give the land to the poor to subsist on.....????
remove the power of those that feed/clothe/water/house us....by that we would have to do it on our own. |

Capitalism has brought more people out of poverty then any other system ever known, him trying to cause rife between classes is a well known Marxist strategy, so if the shoe fits. |

Capitalism??? The pope isn't against capitalism, just greed. Of course there are some Right Wingers who can't tell the difference between them. In their view, greed IS capitalism. “The modern conservative is engaged in one of man's oldest exercises in moral philosophy; that is, the search for a superior moral justification for selfishness.” ― John Kenneth Galbraith |

Pope never acknowledges that greed is in government. How else does he explain a $17 trillion national debt that the citizens have to pay back with interest? I find that omission facinating, and dishonest. |

Liberals used to condemn the Catholic church as being greedy, amazing how that attitude is changing even though the actions of the church hasn't changed |

"Pope Francis’s mission to cleanse the Catholic Church of luxury"
Quoted Text
What is undeniably new, though, is Francis’s desire to cleanse his Church of luxury. He is truly the Austerity Pope for this new age of austerity. He shows intense empathy for the poor, the unemployed and struggling economic migrants. To his credit, he backs up his views with action. He drives around Rome in an old Ford Focus and lives not in the Apostolic Palace, but in a simple house in the grounds of the Vatican. He expects the rest of the Catholic Church to follow his example. This summer he told a group of young nuns and monks, “It hurts me when I see a priest or nun with the latest model car. You can’t do this.” He added, “Just think of how many children die of hunger and dedicate the savings to them.” Last month he denounced those ambitious “airport bishops” looking out for a more prestigious diocese, whom he compared to men “who are constantly looking at other women more beautiful than their own”; and he commented, “Careerism is a cancer.”

In the grounds, in other words a guest room inside the mansion, his Ford is his weekday car while his custom Mercedes sits in the garage. Not that I care, the Catholic church was always one of the most charitable religions in the world, I never claimed otherwise. It was the liberals who mocked the church for years as being the greedy ones. |

I agree that the church in all it's wealth is anything but "christ like"... and that still applies today. But that has nothing to do with Pope Francis attempting to help the poor and the needy of the world by addressing income inequity. IMO, Pope Francis is attempting in some small way to open the eyes of those who's eyes have been blinded by $$$. What did Christ say about the wealthy??? It's easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of heaven! |

Being blinded by money isn't just a rich thing which he makes it out to be, many rich people donate time and money to help the less fortunate but for some reason people don't want to hear that. Its easier to cry about something someone else has that they don't even though they don't want to put the effort in to obtain it for themselves. Some are born with silver spoons but others obtained the silver spoon in the system you and the pope mock. |
