OMG!!!

just take a look at the 'assessed (taxed) amount'......and compare that to what they are selling for....which is w -a-y below the assessed value!!!

There are homes assessed for $150,000+ and are being sold for $100K - $110K!!!!

they assessed during the bubble.....before the housing market went in the crapper!!!

ROTTENdam better take money from the cops bloated budget and put it in reserve for the legal tax assessment battles that are sure to come!!!

Yeah, I heard one property took an $80k reduction and the Majik man was PISSED!  His unprofessionalism was on display for all to see.  He actually counter offered a $25k reduction 12 hours before going to court, and told the person if they didn't accept, that he wouldn't make the same offer in court, but instead go for the full amount.  They went to court and he had his a$$ handed to him.

The property owner is now saving $2400 a year in taxes with the new and ACCURATE assessment.

This is just the beginning in ROTTENdam!

Home buyers are dictating what homes for sale are worth....not the realestate agent nor the 'tax man' nor the folks selling their homes.

Most homes are being sold for well below the assessment and these new home owners are going to grieve them!

ROTTENdam better start cutting the cop' budget so they can afford the projected new legal fees coming down the pike.

(no wonder why there was an ad for a 'new assessor' in ROTTENdam!!)

and as a side note Majerka is nasty...always was and obviously still is!!

And as the money begins to dry up, priorities in the budget will have to be made.  That is why REMS is being sold out by the police union that runs town government.  If you bring Mohawk in, not only will they not come hat in hand to the TB looking for a handout, but they will also generate revenue.  Making sure there is enough money coming in to fund those union pensions and salaries in the next and future contracts. You will begin to see these leeches come up with very creative ways to suck money out of the property owner as values drop.  You see in begin with code enforcement nickel and diming property owners for long grass.

both code enforcement and assessing need to be kept current in both good and bad times - unfortunately code enforcement seems only to be necessary or shows its face when times are bad

Assessments quickly goes up when the market goes up, and goes down slowly with a lot of foot dragging when it goes down.  Code enforcement goes up only during bad economic times when money is tightest for the property owner.  At the end of the day, the decisions are based on what is best for those in government and maintaining their lifestyles.  They don't care about the struggling property owner.

because is a false algorithm.....false value....etc....keeping the government in true assessment light keeps them honest

the value of our taxes paid are what? what ever the f**king government croonies think they should be getting paid......

their value goes down as the algorithm dictates....

...you are a product of your environment, your environment is a product of your priorities, your priorities are a product of you......

The replacement of morality and conscience with law produces a deadly paradox.

understood but not keeping assessments up to date punishes new home buyers while swatters live on the cheap

as for value for $$$$ paid  - just what do you want??? for $500-600/year

leaves and twigs picked up by appointment or streets kept clean and neat   - this is a function of our town board (management team) - not the supervisor

lazy local police protection  or limited county and state society protection

town highways are the combination to a local highway super and the town board - the town board can make or break a highway super - the next 4 years should be a hoot either way

then we have our town board / political appointments and new hires which should follow civil service law   - do you pull them from a list or appoint friends and family of elected or appointed personnel and hope they pass a test

just what am I going to do about PMS bloated police pensions when the majority of the town voters(non voting population) do not care  - the only voters in this town are party faithful(minority) who support such expense  aka friends of DVOR and "The Box"  - they don't mind paying because they see value in the retirement payment made - a cop will do a better job for me if he can retire young for the same money he made while working

what party member is going to risk guaranteed $$$ vs no property tax and a Value added tax(no guarantee of $$$)  - party members have trouble with the rich paying more and the poor paying less - based on what they have to spend  - they don't see the redistribution of wealth in this model

as in much of Rotterdam  - nobody gives-a-sh*t - you can see this clearly every election day
