Schenectady police charged six area men Wednesday with patronizing a prostitute.

The men were charged with misdemeanor patronizing a prostitute and hailed from Hudson, Middleburgh, Niskayuna, Clifton Park, Schenectady and Ballston Spa.

State Police assisted in the arrests.

Wow, and while the city DEMS are wildly spending the city tax dollars on UNNECESSARY gin mills, bakeries, gold ceilings, and fancy lighting, there is no more money left in the city budget to pay for NECESSARY services to the RESIDENTS so the state police have to help!!!!!

The whole area, the whole state in fact, uses Schenectady as its convenient toilet. Our "leaders" either aid and abet this (developers and slumlords) or if there isn't that much money in it, let it slide.

You don't know how right you are. The whole North East ships us their troubled youth. Yes, help our own but pull the welcome mat for DSS and Food Stamp cheats. Start by

but the fact of the matter is........they aren't even 'helping our own'. they just enable them. it's like a cancer with no cure!!

Sounds like a bunch of wasted time, and money just for a few "B" misdemeanors.

There are so many hookers in Schenectady, they had to make the sidewalks wider to accommodate them all.

The prostitutes in Schenectady tend to be drug addicted, and/or victims of abuse. People who can't run their own lives, so it's easier to have someone else (a pimp) run it for them. The abuse from the pimp feels normal to them.
It may be different nowadays, but back when I was paying more attention to the problem, in the 80's, most of the prostitutes were white. So are most of the clientele. People who lived in the Vale neighborhood used to tell me about all the city officials they would see "out riding", looking for hookers, but the names and job titles meant nothing to me then. I did personally witness one well-dressed white man driving a car with a city insignia on the door, driving through that area well after dark.
I do wonder why all of a sudden we are seeing arrests of this type again. Maybe the situation has reached critical mass? If nobody goes after the pimps,it doesn't really accomplish anything.
