Any county, city, town or village, acting individually or jointly, may provide an emergency medical service, a general ambulance service or a combination of such services for the purpose of providing prehospital emergency medical treatment or transporting sick or injured persons found within the boundaries of the municipality to a hospital, clinic, sanatorium or other place for treatment of such illness or injury, and for that purpose may: (a) Acquire by gift or purchase one or more motor vehicles suitable for such purpose and supply and equip the same with such materials and facilities as it may consider necessary for prehospital emergency treatment, and may operate, maintain, repair and replace such vehicles and such supplies and equipment; (b) Contract with one or more individuals, municipal corporations, associations, or other organizations, having sufficient trained and experienced personnel, for operation, maintenance and repair of such emergency medical service or ambulance vehicles and for the furnishing of prehospital emergency treatment; (c) Contract with one or more individuals, municipal corporations, associations, or other organizations to supply, staff and equip emergency medical service or ambulance vehicles suitable for such purposes and operate such vehicles for the furnishing of prehospital emergency treatment; (d) Employ any combination of the methods authorized in paragraph (a), (b) or (c); (e) No contract shall be entered into pursuant to the provisions of this section for the services of an emergency rescue and first aid squad of a fire department or fire company which is subject to the provisions of section two hundred nine-b of the general municipal law; (f) Consider prehospital emergency treatment as that care provided by certified emergency medical technicians or certified advanced emergency medical technicians certified pursuant to the provisions of article thirty of the public health law. - See more at: http://codes.lp.findlaw.com/nycode/GMU/6/122-b#sthash.HNArdy4C.dpuf

ROTTENdam doesn't NEED rems. Just like 'the powers that be' didn't NEED to pad their pockets at the expense of firing the paramedics. rems (ROTTENdam) doesn't have ALS service anymore....yes? But Mohawk does.....yes? So rems has been reduced to nothing more than a transport company.
And now ROTTENdam can't even collect $$$ for ALS service via the ROTTENdam paramedics!

This isn't a football game patches where you 'pick sides' aka 'a winner'. The issue solely falls at the feet of those who were 'elected' to 'run your town'.
Again.........get off the 'support rems' bandwagon!! And instead go to your town hall with pitchforks and demand their resignations for mishandling taxpayer's money! That my cyber friend IS the only issue!!!

is that an order???????....excuse me...I will make up my own mind.....and I have my own opinion....get rid of the government that is there now and most
of the problems will go away.....you keep avoiding that result.......concentrate on what needs to be done....full circle...then come back and

REMS has a couple of the now unfunded paramedics.....but as of a couple of weeks ago they were still in the process of achieving various certifications with regard to the administration of certain controlled substances, reorganizing as an ALS provider....things like that....but it won't happen before that contract is awarded at the Town meeting next Wednesday.
Besides, among other problems, REMS has not even been able to consistently fund their existing payroll, let alone a larger one with personnel that would likely command higher pay rates.....
