White House Takes Credit For Syria’s Apparent ConcessionAs Syria announced Tuesday morning that it would accept Russia’s offer to hand over its chemical weapons, the White House and other proponents of U.S. strikes rushed to claim credit, arguing that the threat of military intervention brought the Assad regime to the negotiating table. “In our view, the only reason this is now being seriously discussed by the Russians is because of the threat of U.S. military action,” a senior administration official told TPM. “Were chemical weapons to be transferred into international control and ultimately destroyed, that would be a positive outcome. But, if this has any chance of happening, we need to have the threat of military action in our pocket.” |

Syria Accepts Russian Proposal To Surrender Chemical Weapons,
Obama should call Putin and thank him for allowing him to avoid an embarrassing defeat in Congress. |

I'm glad that you agree Obama's diplomacy and forceful actions led to yet another Obama Victory with Chemical Weapons being removed from Syria. Syria and Russia both save face. |

It wasn't Obama's diplomacy, it was Kerry's slip up... http://www.newyorker.com/onlin.....lips-save-obama.htmlAlso interesting to note is the ONLY entity not happy with the solution are the Syrian rebels themselves... It sort of gives credence to the Russian claim that the Rebels were behind the Sarin attack, hoping for an international military response against Assad |

The rebels were hoping that Obama would attack Assad... now that is unnecessary. Of course they are unhappy! Chemical Weapons out of Syria... No US military action... NO interference in Syrian Civil War... Republican Hawks voting against using US Military intervention...A total Obama Victory! I wonder if it's too early to start discussing another Obama Peace Prize??? |

The FACTS: ~Obama forced this action... with out the Obama Red Line, the WMD's would continue to be in Syria and most likely, being used against the opposition and civilians who support the opposition. Obama followed another US Presidents advice: Theodore Roosevelt’s foreign policy: "speak softly, and carry a big stick." and it worked. As far as another Obama Peace Prize... It's not likely even with this great achievement. The Peace Prize has been awarded to 101 individuals and 20 organizations. Only two recipients have won multiple Prizes: ~the International Committee of the Red Cross has won three times (1917, 1944, and 1963) and ~the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees has won twice (1954 and 1981) |

I'm glad we are not getting involved but this time we can thank the American people for not believing Obama or this government, the American people made their voices heard and smacked that smug fckn look off of Obama's face. Score one for the people, zero for the nutcase war mongers in the whitehouse. |

The facts: No evidence on WHO used the WMD... according to Obama, it wasn't his "red line": "“I didn’t set a red line, the world set a red line,” Obama said. “My credibility is not on the line. The international community’s credibility is on the line. And America and Congress’ credibility is on the line because we give lip service to the notion that these international norms are important.” Obama has been hardly speaking softly over the last week, and big stick was a "“unbelievably small, limited kind of effort” quote from his secretary of state This solution would not have been possible without Russian intervention |
