A group was using the Central Park Pavilion today. It appeared to be some sort of organization, not a family group. A young man and a slightly older woman were seen leaving the area of the restrooms in a golf cart, the cart contained a trash can and a large open cardboard box with the SCOTT logo printed on it. Inside the women's bathroom, there were individual rolls of toilet paper in the stalls, but not loaded inthe dispensers. No soap available or towels, the sink area appeared untouched by any recent maintenance activity. The  tank behind the restrooms has the name "Pervert Park" hand painted on the top. It may have been for heating the water for hand washing, it sits unused.
Was this group able to request tp, and was it a park employee driving the golf cart? Or were the people in the cart members of the group, and they brought their own? If so, where would they get a golf cart? And how would they have known to purchase a case of bathroom tissue?

$162,000 could probably pay for two police officers to be stationed in the park all summer long. They could hang out in the casino when they weren't patrolling on foot, someone might be able to run that place if more people felt like it was worth it to visit the park. Perhaps someone from the lowest rungs of the economic ladder could staff the ladies' room on a volunteer basis, work an hour or so for part of your DSS benefits, if they didn't have to worry about any kind of crime, they could get tips, I think if more people used the park more often there would be people who could afford to tip, something like that, use some ingenuity to keep it going. Nah, this is Schenectady, our leaders have everybody brainwashed that the only thing that will "save" our city involves them giving all our money to each other.

I tell ya.

Take photos, send them to Greg Floyd at Ch 6 for the "you paid for it" segment.

People need to start forcing this to get beyond boards like these which get shared pretty much just among the board members.

Photos plus experiences told by taxpayers themselves combined with showing the lavish pay on Gilley combined with downtown not pay taxes and showing the lack of essential maintenance of the park for the taxpayers is what's needed.

Yeah, see, there is money for downtown, but no money for the parks.   Downtown is private sector and should be funded ENTIRELY by the private sector.   Can't exist without the tax exemptions, oh well, toobad, your business fails then, just like the long time TAXPAYING businesses downtwon!

Optimists close their eyes and pretend problems are non existent.
Better to have open eyes, see the truths, acknowledge the negatives, and
speak up for the people rather than the politicos and their rich cronies.

I'm afraid that if I make too much noise about the park, McCheese will seize the opportunity to inflict some more expensive remodeling and privatizing on the park. I'm hoping that enough people will see this or hear about it that they will vote some of these people out, but it could backfire. If he gets itin his head that the park can be passed off as an "economic engine" there will be no stopping that crowd. We don't need any more pavilions with chain link fencing and we don't need more brick buildings blocking the scenery, and we certainly don't need to give any more control over public property to private groups because they will "keep it nice". It's like walking a tightrope, how do you get them to do their jobs without giving them an excuse to go in there and start messing things up?
