Patches, I was referring to the President's remarks where he whined about women acting afraid if he got in an elevator. Those remarks offended me greatly. The guy has two daughters, and he is worried about a guy's FEELINGS in a situation where, statistically, women are shown to be in danger? They TELL you, people do these safety talks for a living sometimes, they TELL you, if you even feel uncomfortable in a situation, don't worry about how it looks, GET OUT OF IT. Yet our prez says that's racist. The thing is, he can't know how a woman reacts if she's alone in an elevator with a white man, because he isn't there. I have a friend who was sexually assaulted in an elevator, by a man she was slightly acquainted with. I believe he chose her as his victim because she seemed too timid. I'm not blaming her, I'm just saying that these creeps size up their victims and if you look like you are ready to make a lot of noise ifsomeone is getting too close, you are less likely to have these types choose you. So the President's stupid, self-serving remarks could get somebody killed, if she were worried more about some stranger's reaction than here own safety. |
