Breaking News! Arrest of a 22 year old on felony charges who has admitted ALL the Northside burglaries. Charges against the fence on Van Vranken. The entire neighborhood was in fear of this one man crime wave. And yes 20 breakins including 5 in one night might be a record even in Schenectady. Congrats to the SPD and the residents who assisted in this collar. Now throw the book at him and make him an example for other wanna be gangstas.
I don't believe it was a one man show. I don't care if he admitted doing them all.

Oh they may catch one here and there...........but the fact is...........the city is riddled with criminals!! And they are w-a-y smarter and better armed than the spd!!! And out number them!!!
gotta git rid of the slum lords and make the welfare/section 8 pkg almost unattainable.
As far as drug dealers........there clearly is a 'need' for them here...it's a very very lucrative business!!!

I agree it was probably more then one person, as said above throw the book at the one caught and maybe just maybe that will deter the rest of his crew.

The man behind a rash of burglaries in the City of Schenectady is behind bars tonight. Police say 22-year old Joshua Wise Jr. admitted to stealing electronics and money from at least 10 homes on the north side, homes he entered while those who lived there were asleep inside.
In most cases, Police say Wise took only what he could carry back to his home along Avenue B in Schenectady. He stole mainly smart phones, iPods and iPads and normally sold them on the streets within 24 hours of taking them.
Shani Payton of Schenectady was charged with selling one of the stolen iPhones and Hussain Hussain, also of Schenectady who is the owner of “Sains Discount” was is accused of selling a phone he knew was stolen in his store. “They (the phones) are all flipped almost immediately either through Craigslist or through other people on the street, everybody takes their little cut, you sell it to me for $40, I sell it someone else for $60 and it goes on and on and on,” says Wayne Bennett, the Schenectady Police Commissioner.

BINGO! SPD on the site of another break in off Nott Street yesterday. There are a lot of independent operators. Unite and takeover. Between the crime wave, Ellis constant construction earaches/parking headaches and DEM taxes the Northside is under siege. 5 for sale signs on one block alone. But no one wants to buy into the DEM tax hell? Maybe a new sidewalk and curb program?
Sains Discount? Is that in the Van Vranken area? One of the renaissance businesses I read about in the Gazette? Sounds like an old fashioned fence shop to me. Notice how the news media is getting all stirred up about this type of business after that Country Knolls burglar got caught. They just have to blame all crime on this city.
SCHENECTADY – Three burglaries over the last two days are keeping Schenectady Police busy.
They say the incidents took place late Wednesday and Thursday nights. All three burglaries happened between the Stockade area and Wendell Ave on the north end of the city.
All three homes were occupied at the time of the burglaries and property was taken from each one.
Police say the burglar or burglars got into the homes by removing a screen and climbing through the window. Schenectady Police do not have any description to give to the public but officers are canvassing the neighborhoods and reviewing surveillance cameras.
Police urge you to lock your doors and windows whenever possible. They say a screen provides little security and can easily be removed.
