Coming right after the huge bomb Billy Elliott, Ghost is now haunting Morris and perennial candidate Karen Johnson. The taxpayer financed "arts" center can't sell the new play
Ghost based on the film by Whoppi Goldberg. Apparently Schenectady is not Peoria or Hartford. Schenectady is no arts center, no place to open a play as taxpayers have enough
trouble paying their bloated tax bills. Proctor's needs to get back to basics showcasing established musicals and local concerts. Then they can finally repay the County
taxpayers-no? Anyone needing 1,000 tickets to Ghost call Proctor's today!

You better have proof (of lack of attendance) or some is going to lay you are lying and distorting the truth because, "the city is in a renaissance."

Optimists close their eyes and pretend problems are non existent.
Better to have open eyes, see the truths, acknowledge the negatives, and
speak up for the people rather than the politicos and their rich cronies.

Proctors can fail all they want.....they don't care!!! Morris will still get his inflated taxpaid salary. The taxpayers will still keep the beast afloat!! The only thing is that the city is running low on actual taxpayers since most are on welfare and the rest are leaving!!! GREAT JOB!!!

I don't know why Proctor's is even open in the summer for any of this stuff. Don't people go to the outdoor venues this time of year? Why try to compete? I think it would make more sense economically to leave the theater 'dark'.

Despite what the nayboobs post - Downtown was bustling with people coming and going from shows at Proctor's all summer long.  Again, they (the nayboobs) are just miserable folks who get their jollies whining and complaining while not bothering to get off their lazy behinds to do something to help BUILD UP their community.  The nayboobs are terrorists using negative words for bombs in an attempt to tear down this wonderful place that we call home.

The taxation is the terrorism.

People complaining of being taxed to death are not terrorists.

You would understand if you paid taxes.

Or rent even.

Like I said, it would probably make more sense to leave it dark, so as not to try to compete with outdoor venues. I'm talking economically, as someonewho has a financial stake in the theater, the city, and an income.
That is not being negative, trying to plug a money leak. It concerns me greatly that people who want to live here can't buy homes here, and people who want to move can't sell their homes. We know how to rectify that, but there are forces at work who stubbornly refuse to face facts, and unfortunately, people are stupid enough to vote them in. Those who try to stop us from getting the word out are the destroyers.
I see that we will have to send a form to tax to continue to receive the basic STAR. There was a lot of outright FRAUD in the program, and steps are being taken to correct that. When people don't have to pay their taxes, others have to make it up. Even though it's free money from the State.  Then people like Denise Brucker have to buy a house outside the city because they can't afford to live here. Who wouldn't speak out against that? It's a good thing two people here kept on it, isn't it? How ironic that someone who receives government largesse effectively forces out someone who thought she was in favor of all that largesse until she realized she was one of the few in government locally who was paying and not taking enough. Whoever they get in there will be stuck paying the taxes they vote on, so they better make sure they pick a big taker.

It actually makes more sense to make Proctor's a 12 month a year venue.  Those folks from Downstate and beyond the Capital District who summer or vacation near here serve to expand the potential audience for summer-time events.  And since Downtown has been quite busy with all the folks coming to summer-time events at Proctor's, it only goes to prove that Proctor's is a big part of the RENAISSANCE of Schenectady County, and that once again the vile, evil nayboobs have laid another egg in their despicable but feeble attempts to undermine and tear down our beloved community.

Gosh, there's DV. SO VERY VERY VERY SCARED with all OODLES UPON OODLES of EVIDENCE to prove that the city is failing.

Sure, lots of people downtown, all those wierdos from that mental place and the YM guys who would otherwise be homeless, and the welfare moms with babies in strollers and rings on their fingers (and bells on their toes), and cell phones in ears.

Then DV wouldn't know whether there are people downtown, he doesn't go in the city, doesn't work, won't live IN the city he claims is so wonderful.

The "nayboobs" ARE trying to help the city improve.   The city needs homeowner to live IN the city.   In order for people to buy homes and live IN the city, the taxes need to go down and the homeowners should not be put in a position of being underwater on their mortgage.   On several posts i have provided the EVIDENCE that proves homeowners wind up being underwater on their mortgage within a very short time.   But then someone who does not nor ever have owned a home, does not understand accounting, mortgages, finance, interest, probably would not grasp what I wrote.  There are fewer and fewer owner occupeid homes in the city as owner occupants do NOT WANT to buy a home merely to throw money away by beng underwater.   The big absentee owners don't cared.   The rest of the people in the city are renters, a huge chunk who have a chunk of their rent paid by Section 8 so they don't understand home values nor do they care.

And as home values go down and taxes go up, more people leave.   And home values go down because taxes are on the rise because YOUR BUDDY DEMS are giving out the taxpayers money to their rich political cronies downtown, they are STEALING from the homeonwers in the neighborhoods by taking money from them to pay the taxes on the millionaires downtown (who in turn give kickbacks to the city, county, and plex dems.

No amount of cheering for dems, no amount of cheering for the wild uncontrolled spending on downtown via the use of taxpayer money is going to increase the tax base.   DV, I have provided the EVIDENCE of the MASSIVE DRASTIC REDUCTION in the city's tax base as YOUR DEMS give more money to their political cronies.   And YOU have proven that I speak the truth because you do not provide one teeny weeny shred of evidence to dispute what I say.

Your reference to terrorism and bombings shows your obvious mental instability, particularly when you cannot provide any EVIDENCE to dispute the FACTS that the "nayboobs" have provided.

Personally, I think IF the state is going to legalize gambling than it should legalize it for ANYWHERE across the state and not just for a limited number operators at a limited number of sites.

Proctor's is a casino, they are gambling with our money, rp.
It makes sense for Proctor's to have expensive shows in the off-season for people to not go and see. Okay.

Okay.

They can't give away tickets. Proctor is a total bomb in the summer. First Billy Elliot, then Robert Irving {crowd of under 200} now Ghosts. This was attempted to make Morris
look good at opening a show. Except for one thing-you need an audience. Proctor's needs new leadership that is not solely interested in ripping off the taxpayers and becoming
the DEM machine farm system. The grab of our community tv by these DEM fiscal incompetents should have awoken more sheeple. Got empty seats?

You are only a stones throw away from being there.  All it takes is a massive hit in your life and Major Depression will send you spirialing.  Most likely it will come because of something financially related loss of job, home, kids getting into trouble. No place to stay.  You become financially strapped and have to go on Medicaid to attend to yours and you famly's health needs like using that Mental Place for therapy andmedications.

Do you know how many of those men are Vets? The Major Depression, hopeless, helpless overwhelms them.  The PTSD horrofies their every waking moment.

Thank God you still have a job, a home, your kids are doing ok and you are not a Vet just coming home.

You might want to think about offering an apology to all the Vets reading this board and all those who have lost their jobs, their houses reposessed..  Please.  You have just stigmatize a whole group of your neighbors. This is the reason many don't go for help...  the stigma.  It holds them back and many times leads to them taking their life.

Thanks
Celeste
