The Town doesn't enforce its own Zoning Laws, so you are saying they are arbitrary, capricious, and selective as to what laws they choose to enforce!

No.  The town enforces the law - its laws as well as the applicable state and federal laws.

I know who you are and you are the type of person who loves to complain and who gets a thrill out of running their community down.  Frankly, I am saddened to live in the same community with perennial whiners and complainers who don't lift a finger to help BUILD UP the community but prefer to TEAR DOWN this wonderful place we call home.  And if you don't like my response that is your problem -- deal with it -- I don't have much patience for hate-filled nayboobs.

I was told it was because one person was driving around the neighborhood and calling in every pool they see repeatedly.

Frankly, I am saddened to live in the same community with perennial whiners and complainers who don't lift a finger to help BUILD UP the community but prefer to TEAR DOWN this wonderful place we call home.

Unless of course, by not lifting a finger, you aren't including paying the outrageous taxes
that the elected jackassses donate to the corporate whores.

You would understand if you had to pay taxes, goatboy.

You are the one who comes on here constantly whining about people that  complain about being
robbed by the government extortionists, that then give the money away to the wealthy.

You are the biggest supporter of tax and spend in the entire group.

You think we can make a better community through home seizures from bankruptcy caused by
excessive taxation.

You support corporate welfare.

You support entitlements for the rich, as a way to make the town and city better.

While hundreds lose their homes to greedy politicians that have to borrow even more money to
knock the properties down.

Vaedur, that is probably what it is. Some people do get sick of municipalities not enforcing their own codes. The problem I see here is the same one wehave in Schenectady, that things are let go for so long and then enforced in a selective fashion when many residents are unaware of what codes are anymore.
The local government ought to know what regs apply before they start trying to enforce imaginary rules.

They said it was someone who a neighbor called on them getting their revenge.  I was suprised they gave us so much info.

I think people should complain if their municipality is trying to enforce nonexistant laws that affect them. That is being a good citizen, IMO.
Hamilton Hill in Schenectady was written off by city government ages ago. I will complain about that, because that is RACISM, which is a system that favors one race over another, and I find that abhorrent. I will complain about elected officials taking money that does not belong to them and giving it away to wealthy people because that is misappropriation of funds, malfeasance, nonfeasance, crony capitalism, etc. etc.
I see houses every day with code violations. We had a 'sweep' through here. How can that be?
Anyone remember that back-and-forth with some in the city government and the guy who headed code enforcement, who ended up retiring? What was that about? It wasn't about code enforcement, that's for sure.
This website is for that purpose, from what I can tell. Anybody want to start a thread on something cheerier? Go right ahead. Charging "negativity" is a feeble attempt to shut down discussion when people are getting too close to the truth.

The interesting thing is, State laws do not apply to pools at a private residence. They are that strict because they apply to pools used by the general public, or members of a club, etc. A pool owned and maintained by an individual for the use of her friends and family is specifically exempted from the law. Not to say that such pools are not subject to local ordinances, of course they are, but this "compliance with State guidelines" is bs.

being exempt from the law is one thing....but owning a home with a mortgage requires home insurance....they can
say 'no' if said pool is found out and 'unsafe'....

insurance companies write the fu(king laws....the definition of insurance is an oxymoron and the lawyers help them
to build our chains

...you are a product of your environment, your environment is a product of your priorities, your priorities are a product of you......

The replacement of morality and conscience with law produces a deadly paradox.

Yeah, but your homeowners insurance doesn't try to equate those blowup pools with anything public. Rotterdam is trying to say they are using state guidelines but there are no state guidelines for an inflatable pool in your yard, and if they want to make stricter local ordinances, they have to enact them like they do with any other law. This is bs.

So, next time you see a blow up bouncy house in someone's yard, you can call the building
inspector to report an illegal building.

Yeah, doesn't meet state codes at all.
Why doesn't the media do it's own investigating when they report this stuff? I am in favor of code enforcement, btw, just not enforcement of imaginarycodes or selective enforcement. Non-enforcement is just as bad. I wish they would enforce our rules here in the city, but first they have to know what they are, and second in areas that have been unenforced for decades you have to gradually bring people into compliance or you cause more problems than you alleviate.

Yes, you need a permit for the new structure.  Inflatable plastic is the same as brick and mortar.  The building inspector must be called after each phase of inflation.  Roll out the bounce house - inspection.  Plug in the blower - inspection.  Start inflating - inspection.  Stake the bounce house down - inspection.  Then you will be issued the certificate of occupancy.

I wonder if you need a building permit for one of those lawn flags. It sticks in the ground and all.
