Wasn't that to be located in the existing old Grand Union building?
It just looks like a brand new building is being built next to the laundromat. That is the only area where there is construction, it's roped of and INSIDE the roped off area is a small billboard with a drawing of it.
Just curious because I thought we (we taxpayers, we who actually are taxpayers) were leasing the old Grand Union building.

No, the Town Council voted that down. Highbridge Development bought the property from the private owner and is leasing the new building being built to the County for Central Dispatch. So, now, Highbridge Development will make the money from the County.
And we, the "real taxpayers" will reap no benefit. Except for having a new building on Hamburg, open 24/7. Which I like. For obvious, selfish reasons.
The real benefit comes from having a centralized, state of the art dispatch center. This has been something that has been LONG overdue. It will enhance the public safety of our county. Schenectady County is one of the few areas in the country without one.

Highbridge Development translates into Brian Merriam Ardsley Rd, then 376 Broadway which is a $2 million dollar exempt property.
They will likely be tax exempt while leasing to the county.
The real benefit will be massive tax favoritism and corporate profit at the taxpayer's expense.

Business as usual.
That is what I'm afraid of. That is what we, who actually are taxpayers, should be concerned about.
Oh yes, have something "state of the art," easy to shake the pom poms for that when you're not paying for it.
Not that we're opposed to a central dispatch, it's much better that it's here instead of on Galesi's property, but again, if it's tax exempt, then we who are taxpayers, do NOT get any benefit other than an increase in our taxes to cover the loss.
If this parcel was sold to Highbridge, then how much, and where is this sale recorded? Is it yet another business name? No deed on record, or will that happen after the building is built? I mean, look, Brucker's deed hit the news just what, two days after the closing and being recorded. It's been, what, two weeks since construction started.

NO PROBLEM WITH THAT -even from the other side of town - business supporting our youth need all the help they can get!!!!
but it does suck we have been had because someone couldn't cut a deal or someone REALLY cut a deal - next malozies or mazone will be catering -cause dispatchers/staff are tooo busy on their lunch hour to visit local business for food

correct - Schenectady County late to the party as always - and they are not even fashionably late - more like the wrong century -- to busy worrying on how to divvying up tax money friend and family
what job program is the tax exemption under????? we have been told that we would be reducing jobs over time as dispatchers retire
they should have built it in a cloud - fools - the view is better
The only problem with this entire thing is the county has already doubled the budget while loosing the only person in the county that could set it up... So they had to hire a consulting firm to finish the project....I'm sure that came cheap...they also don't have the correct size radio tower....so there are sure to be radio issues.......this is a great idea...only it will never be done correctly and there will be problems from the start...welcome to Schenectady count where there is absolutely no propper planning.....
This is what people voted for, they think it is all great, all the time. Lalalaa-la-la laaaaa! Life is-a beautiful!
"While Foreign Terrorists were plotting to murder and maim using homemade bombs in Boston, Democrap officials in Washington DC, Albany and here were busy watching ME and other law abiding American Citizens who are gun owners and taxpayers, in an effort to blame the nation's lack of security on US so that they could have a political scapegoat."
As part of the agreement, Schenectady County will contribute $560,000 from 911 surcharge funds, up to $143,000 in transitional funds, and $140,000 a year for twenty years to fund the leasing/construction of the dispatch center.
$ 560,000 143,000 2,800,000 3,503 ,000 for a dozen or so computers, a telephone system and a stick built building - a new home in Rotterdam sells fro $239,000 - WTF
amazing how we went from a Brick Castle to a piece of tinder.......
I must say, I was surprised going by and seeing the stick house.
Thought it would be made with the steal beams, etc.
Then I saw what looked to be particle board for the walls.
