If you read the Gazette, that is interesting, it says:

Quoted Text
In Schenectady County, where sales tax collections were down less than 1 percent for the first half of 2013, Commissioner of Finance Deb Mancini is optimistic they will reach their budgeted sales tax revenue for 2013.

The article however does NOT tell the people of the city or the county what the numbers and/or percents were IN Schenectady County.

The news report does continue with mentioning the increase in Montgomery County and Saratoga County.

Yep, working together works how?   The city dems, the county dems, and plex.

The dems leaders in Schenectady means what?    A renaissance?   Show me how and where.

Tax base DOWN
Property values DOWN
Home sales DOWN
Home sale prices DOWN
Essential services DOWN
Such as:  essential service of paving of Erie Blvd is eliminated, instead we get some STUPID UNNECESSARY lamp posts on the other end of Erie
Sales tax DOWN
Property and school taxes for the rich and/or political cronies of the dems - DOWN/ELIMINATED.

Taxes on the financially struggling homeowners?   UP BIG TIME.

Let's see if any cheerleaders cheerleader for the dems has the guts to explain how Schenectady is improving.

TOTAL SILENCE.

Let's see now.   Let's look at the recent DEM "working together" history.

SALES TAX GAINS RISING
Capital Region counties cite increased spending in 2012 revenue boost
KRISTEN V. BROWN
Section: Main,  Page: A1
Date: Tuesday, October 9, 2012

ALLBANY – For the third year in a row, sales tax revenues in 2012 are expected to rise in the Capital Region, pointing to improving consumer confidence and an increasingly more vigorous economic climate.

Rensselaer, Saratoga and Albany counties are all expecting significant boosts in sales tax revenues over 2011, according to 2012 projections. Schenectady County's 2012 estimates are comparable to 2011, though the county expects a 1.7 percent increase in 2013.

So here we are, 2013, about the cheerleaders cheerleader for the dems and the so called "working together" explain this.

Local News
CAPITAL REGION :
Sales tax take up, led by local county Increase 3rd-largest outside of NYC

Sales tax revenue surged in New York in April, May and June, and one of the biggest increases was recorded in Montgomery County.
According to the state Department of Taxation and Finance, Montgomery County brought in nearly $7 million, 11.74 percent more than in the second quarter of 2011.
It was the third-largest increase outside of New York City. Only Hamilton and Livingston counties had greater increases, up more than 19 percent and 12 percent, respectively.
Montgomery County Treasurer Shawn Bowerman said the cause of the improvement is up for speculation.
“It’s a total guess,” he said. “But with fuel prices, I think people were shopping closer to home.”
Roughly a third of the $700,000 jump came from prior-period adjustments, which could have been caused by merchants fi ling their taxes late or fixing errors in taxes they’d already paid, Bowerman said. “Either way, it was corrected in our favor.”
Many other area counties saw a big increase. Fulton County saw a 10 percent jump to a second-quarter total of $4.6 million.
Saratoga County had a smaller but still sizeable increase, up 7 percent to $19 million, as did Albany County, with a 6.4 percent gain to $59.4 million.
A few counties weren’t so lucky.
Rensselaer County held steady at $19 million, growing less than 1 percent. County Chief Fiscal Officer Mike Slawson said the lull was most likely due to the county’s 10 percent sales tax growth last year.
Schenectady County’s second quarter sales tax revenue actually fell 1.25 percent compared with a year earlier.

About Schenectady County, what????????

... step by step Schenectady ... continues its Renaissance.

Yeah, where, how????????

   The RENAISSANCE continues!

Yeah, where, how?????????

Sounds great -- another sign of the Democrat-led RENAISSANCE in Schenectady County.

Tax base DOWN,
Home values DOWN
Home sales DOWN
Home sale prices DOWN
Essential services DOWN
Sales taxes DOWN
Tax on the rich and/or political cronies DOWN or eliminated
Taxes on the residents UP

So HOW is that a renaissance?

GUARANTEED, TOTAL SILENCE to explain HOW this is indicative of a renaissance.

there are a few possibilities for the decline....

1. folks with money to spend are shopping OUT of the county...eg colonie/guilderland/saratoga.

2. many folks are on welfare and/or unemployed and don't have extra money to spend.

3. no revenue from home sales.

.....and there are probably other reasons.

However....where was the future planning/vision? It appears that these folks are unrealistically optimistic about the future of SCUMnectady. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to realistically realize that if home sales are down, 60% of the population is on welfare and there are no jobs....that would equate to LOWER SALES TAX!!!

couple this with high crime, high taxes, substandard schools, high tax exemptions and created taxpaid positions only adds to the historic problems in SCUMnectady.

Sorry..........but the 'power that be' should have seen this coming!! AGAIN...........it don't take a rocket scientist.

I don't believe that the "sales tax" referenced include home sales, there are various state and county fees and surcharges associated with deed transfer, none of which I  believe that the state defines/includes as "sales tax" as reported in the quarterly sales tax reports.  Home sales do not include a "sales tax" as a purchase of a car does or a bottle of soda or anything in between

you may be correct..........but just last week a friend of ours closed on a home in princetown. They paid $105K (family deal). Gave a down payment of $50K. Mortgage was for $65K....they had to pay sales tax on $40K.

it didn't make sense to  me either..........but that's the way it went down.

Closing last week means deed is probably already recorded.

Look it up, you'll see the itemized list of fees and surcharges and taxes on the deed.   There wo't be a "sales tax"

You no likey 5 story high lights like Paris? I thought this was about the Knoxville company that isn't coming. The same handful of elites are prospering while the County goes down the toilet. Sales tax revenue way down. Look at the RT 30 corridor in Montgomery County. Booming retail. Meanwhile in Death Rayville Olenders, Rudnicks, Bangkok Thai shuttered.  But don't call it an implosion. Mexican Radio and another double digit Countywide tax increase just might turn it around.

Exactly! But they can't. Where's the PILOT Morris? Morris lectures around the country telling other communities how to rip off their taxpayers. Pay your Stratton Fair Share
Payment in lieu of taxes. Like the Boys Club does. Proctor's has now become the farm team for the machine with employees on the County/City Council. Send Metrograft leaders
packing and use the revenue solely for property tax relief. Then watch a small business renaissance.

EXACTLY!

Proctors became a tax-payer-leech-sucking-nightmare from its inception. Millions wasted and MANY other projects could have started or have been saved if Proctors didn't get its new gold ceiling..or newest 'financial' advisor. Morris has bastardized every 'fine arts' and 'charity' designation only to expand his personal bank accounts and political clout.

Metroplex only bribes Galesi and a select few to build eyesores in the City. To hell with any real retail..let them increase the sales tax base in Glenville and other surrounding counties.

Gillen can't get out of the blackhole he created.....it's never going to get better until the Plex dies!
