WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!

Moving to Nisky!

Was her council seat one of those up for election this year?   I lose track.

How did this get past us?   Her house has been listed since May (and it's not listed with the dem's crony agent, it hasn't even been part of the McC bus tour).   Already reduced twice, and below assessment value.

Probably has seen the writing on the wall.

Will have to pick up the gazette, story in there.

Deed on house purchase in Nisky filed only 4 days ago, obviously she cannot stay until the end of the year, highly doubt she'd do what the police chief does,

House in Nisky assessed at more than twice that of house in Schdy.   But the Nisky taxes are no where near double the city's.

SCHENECTADY : Brucker to give up council seat for move

BY KATHLEEN MOORE Gazette Reporter

Longtime city Councilwoman Denise Brucker is moving to Niskayuna and resigning from the council.
She plans to move in November and will resign at that point.
As a lifelong Schenectady resident, she said moving to Niskayuna was unusual.
“It’s definitely strange,” she said. “It was a very big decision.” It started with the search for a bigger house.
“We’re looking for a little more room. I’ve got three dogs,” Brucker said. “I certainly looked around in the city of Schenectady and couldn’t find anything we both wanted. You know, we have to agree.” In Niskayuna, they found a house they both liked. Brucker and her husband purchased a house on St. David’s Lane, where they now have a $216,997 mortgage. They bought the house July 25, but the deed was just fi led with the county clerk.
Their Patrick Court house has been for sale for months but hasn’t sold yet. Nonetheless, the Bruckers aren’t stuck paying two mortgages : they paid off the mortgage on their Schenectady house in 2009. Brucker has owned that house for 27 years.
She said she’ll be sad to leave that house — especially now that it’s all fixed up. The new house needs a lot of work.
“It requires extensive, extensive work,” she said.
She plans to move in as soon as it’s done, even though that will force her to resign from the council.
“My plan would probably be as soon as I can get the house ready,” she said.
She can remain on the council as long as she’s living in Schenectady, even if she owns property in another town.
The purchase came as a surprise to her fellow council members. Councilwoman Leesa Perazzo even asked if it was possibly just a rumor.
Upon learning it was true, Perazzo said she was surprised.
“But houses are sometimes a love affair,” she said.
Brucker was council president last year and could have remained president this year under the council’s informal leadership rules. But she said she did not want to be president for a second year.
Brucker has always been a top votegetter among Democrats in her election campaigns and won re-election decisively in 2011. Her term would have expired at the end of 2015.
Last year, she became the director of continuing education for SUNY Adirondack, forcing her to make a lengthy commute every day. When she put her house on the market, some city offi cials thought she would move to Queensbury so she could be close to her job.
Brucker served on the council from 1998 to 2005, but was prohibited from running for re-election under the Hatch Act. The act bans certain public employees from holding political office, and Brucker had taken a job at the Schenectady Municipal Housing Authority.
She returned to the council in 2006 after taking a job with Schenectady County Community College. She was appointed to fill a vacancy but easily
won re-election.

$217,000 dollar mortgage, and the "new" house needs extensive, extensive work!  And the reason for the move is "more room".  Who in their right mind would go through all that, and relinguish a City Council seat for "more room".  smells fishy . . . .

With 4 seats up for grabs the GOP-Independents-Alliance party etc better get a GOOD campaign going. They need to go door to door and talk to
homeowners about the taxes, the disgrace with downtown/Morris/Galesi/Perazzo  and let them know that VR needs people to work with him to
get things moving in the right direction in the city.

Just reinforces the fact that rats will always seek to escape a ship that is sinking.

Brucker's excuse that she couldn't find one in the city is total crap. I don't even think the taxes are an issue. It doesn't make sense to leave a totally paid off and upgraded house to move into a home that needs extensive work and pay off another mortgage for 10,15 or whatever years.

And she's giving up her entire political career and doesn't tell anyone about it.

Why?

The only reason that I can think of is there is something bad, REAL bad, that is going to rock Schenectady and she doesn't want any part of it because heads will probably roll.

Personally, I real could give a sh*t what happens to SCUMectady at this point since we have already fled the area.

Yes, something IS fishy.   It's the taxes in the city.   She probably has an idea of what the coming 2014 budget will be and the FACT (supported with evidence) that the homeowners in the city are now making up for the MILLIONS UPON MILLIONS of lost tax revenue from GE (thanks to the DEMS), and then the homeowners having to pay the taxes of the billionaire Galesi all combined with the DRASTIC FALL in the city's tax base.

If she wanted a bigger house why not Carl Erickson's that has been sitting on the market for quite a while?

How about Eric Ely's house that has been sitting on the market for several years?

Both are bigger houses.   Oh wait, the taxes are out of sight!

"...extenstive extensive..."

It depends on what you want.  From the one photo of the kitchen, looks like a galley kitchen, can't see the floor, looks like stainless countertop?   Stainless appliances yes, not sure many would like stainless as countertops.  The one photo of a bathroom, older wallpaper, perhaps plastic tile but can't be sure, but the tub is not enclosed on three sides which is very dated.  The cabinets in the kitchen is a mixed answer. If you really like knotty pine, you'll be happy with those cabinets because that dining room is knotty pine which is really nice IF you really like the knotty pine; many would say it's dated, which it is, but it's fine if it's your style.  What appears to be a family room, also knotty pine (seriously, some like that, reminds you of a mountain lodge so it can be appealing), but the floor, ugh.   If they are DIY'ers, they've got it made

Must remember of course that it's almost 1 and half acres.  That can be appealing.  I didn't check to see what comps are going for there.  Personally I don't think I'd pay that much for that house but then, I don't care for beams and I don't care for knotty pine (unless maybe if I had a camp).   But reality will say that there are houses of the size they probably wanted IN the city, sometimes less work, others need work, certainly not that amount of land, but IT'S THE TAXES!!!!!!!!!!!!

Watch, she'll move the day AFTER election.  On that day, the dems will assess the situation.   If they lose council seats in the election, they WILL RUSH to appoint someone, they WILL appoint someone who loses in the November election.

The city really has an obligation TO THE TAXPAYERS to put this seat up for election this November.  Whatever appointment would be made would require an election next year to fill the seat through 2015.

Be FAIR to the TAXPAYERS AND RESIDENTS.  She should resign NOW and the seat could be left vacant and have an election in November.

WHO (besides the cheerleader DV) things its proper for a council person who is FLEEING THE CITY to be able to vote on the city's budget for next year??????

I have another prediction but I'll keep it to myself for now.

Of all the damnable nerve. In my neighborhood, we lost a great family, they had to have a bigger house, they did not want to leave. They could find plenty of houses to suit them, they just could not afford any higher taxes. I think Ms. Brucker maybe finally woke up to what everybody has been yelling at her, the taxes are too damn high, and when she HAD to live here but the chief of police, Morris the Patroon, all these others could commute and even have a free CAR, for heaven's sake, she threw in the towel. That business about a house they both could agree on, that means they both agree the house couldn't be in Schenectady.
The schools are facing further ruin as well, as they just had to go and run a slate of democrats for that. Guess what? You can check out, but you can never leave. Ask Morris. The rats are deserting the sinking ship.

Ran into some friends while shopping this morning (gosh those triple coupons are great, followed by four double coupon $1 at the competitor).

So here seems to be the scoop on Ms Brucker.

We all know it takes a while to buy a house, shop, make offer, accepted offer, inspections, final mortgage approval, to closing.   (that sentence is for the uneducated among us.        )

Brucker knew months ago that she was leaving the city.  Instead of announcing resignation at that time, she deliberately kept it hushed.  Had she announced it at the time they got an accepted offer on the house, that would have provided for an election for her seat this year as there would have been time for the non-dems to find a candidate, get the whole process going with the election board and the petitions and such.

And she announced she will resign in November, that resignation will be effective the day after the election, and the dems on the council will rush to appoint one of their own fellow corrupt puppets before Jan 1, especially if they lose some seats on the council.

Once again, there will be yet another UN-ELECTED council person thanks to the DEM party!    You'd think that the "democrat" party would favor "democracy" via the people choosing the council reps as opposed to the dem party appointing one

What is worse is the voting for ruinous spending to further bring down the city knowing full well that you aren't going to bear the consequences.
Her quote about "the democratic process" when they were playing dirty politics with the vacant seat previously, that was so galling, as either she was talking down to the electorate on a topic she did not fully grasp (democracy is allowing a vote, not the opposite) or she was deviously arranging things to help keep the stinking, corrupt, cesspool of a system working for the minority it was working for even as she was finding it unworkable for herself. Notice she's not moving into one of the new condos or townhomes or whatever that they are insisting are necessary to attract all these great people to the area. This invalidates that phony argument, and supports what I've been saying all along. There are plenty of beautiful, large houses in Schenectady. People can't afford the upkeep with the high taxes.
I'm glad she's leaving, and I hope the door hits her in the butt on the way out.
