friend of ours was driving thru middleburg this a.m. and was stopped by a state trooper. pulled him over for using a cell phone while driving.

the kicker is...........HE DOESN'T EVEN OWN A CELL PHONE.....TRUTH!!!

trooper asked to check out his car to make sure there was not cell phone, and of course there WASN'T!!!

trooper asked to see his license and registration.....checked them out.....then told him to 'have a nice day!!!

you can rest assured that i would have said NO if asked to check my car for a cell phone if I DIDN'T EVEN OWN ONE!!!

JERKS! Guess the state 'really' needs $$$$$ !!!!

They were looking for any reason, if he said no they would have brought a drug dog in a said it hit on something. And I don't know how many times I seen cops talk on their cellphones while driving, at least a dozen times.

What a sleazy excuse to try to go through someone's car. You scratch your ear and it's "I thought he had a cell phone". This should be reported somewhere. They tried to push more tourism out that way, to help in their disaster recovery, and this is how they treat motorists?
I don't approve of using the phone while driving, but we're in more danger from overzealous attempts to crack down on the citizenry. They don't care about the phone anyway, troopers use their personal cells while driving because who is going to question them. If a police officer were on the phone and had a fatal accident, the part about being on the phone would be withheld from the public.

And that is EXACTLY what he was doing.....scratching his ear!!!
and the trooper was parked in stewarts. so our friend happened to be scratching his ear when he passed the trooper!!

Well, if the cell phone use is imaginary, you don't need to own one in real life, do you? That's why I think this should get reported somewhere, your friend can prove that no way did he appear to be on the phone. We all know that they aren't really seeing phones anyway, it is just fortunate for them thatso many people have such an item in their cars nowadays that nobody is likely to challenge them when they do this and side with the driver. They can also say they thought they smelled marijuana, not burning marijuana, the leaves, in a bag, in a closed trunk. Or, they can just get a tip from some othergovernment branch spying on you, go through your car, and if they find anything make up the probable cause retroactively.
I noticed that the three main networks didn't cover that spying story. They were do busy covering A-Rod and telling us the government intercepted communications from Al Quaida and saved us from certain death by dramatically closing embassies. Because we protect our diplomats, see? Except when we don't.

About 5 years ago- My friend got pulled over for no seatbelt while he was wearing one. Of course this is a guy who, 25 years ago if you got in his truck and didn't buckle up (before it was the law) he would slam on the brakes while pulling away to "teach you" how dangerous it is not to wear a belt, then give you the big seat belt lecture. So him getting pulled over for seat belt while he was wearing one reminds me of the Pope getting a lecture on the Catechism from a Protestant. Of course he was so inflamed and indignant that the Trooper actually backed down when he realized he pulled over a guy who was a seat belt zealot. Of course they would randomly pull people over figuring 50% of the time they would have a guy who wasn't wearing one and then get to see if he was drunk or whatever.

sloppy sloppy

they lose a lot of trust this way, but they figure "so what" they are declaring war on all citizens within a matter of time anyway, once the order comes down to federalize and subdue the public.

"While Foreign Terrorists were plotting to murder and maim using homemade bombs in Boston, Democrap officials in Washington DC, Albany and here were busy watching ME and other law abiding American Citizens who are gun owners and taxpayers, in an effort to blame the nation's lack of security on US so that they could have a political scapegoat."

They were asked to do a "welfare check"? That's a welfare check? Things have gotten way out of hand.

Reading the article, I'd say the wife called cause she was afraid he might do something to himself with that gun. Maybe he was suicidal, maybe he was drunk and waving it around, maybe he was suddenly paranoid and saying he was going to shoot someone. It doesn't sound like they just walked up to some poor guy and shot him. Could have even been a sulcus by cop attempt.
