The End Of The Republican Party?

“Many have called Donald Trump’s unexpected takeover of a major political party unprecedented;
but it’s not. A similar scenario unfolded in 1848, when General Zachary Taylor, a career soldier
who had never even voted in a presidential election, conquered the Whig Party.”

“Taylor parlayed his outsider appeal to defeat Lewis Cass, an experienced former Cabinet secretary
and senator.
Taylor is often ranked as one of the worst presidents in U.S. history—and, more seriously, the
Whig Party never recovered from his victory. In fact, just a few years after Taylor was elected under
the Whig banner, the party dissolved—undermined by the divisions that caused Taylor’s nomination
in the first place, and also by the loss of faith that followed it.”

Tony Blair’s Day Of Reckoning.  Time for G W Bush to Account  For His Lies
Results of the British Chilcot Inquiry :
• That there was no imminent threat from Saddam Hussein in March 2003; that a strategy of
containment could have been adopted and continued for some time; and that the judgments
about the severity of the threat posed by Iraq’s weapons of mass destruction - WMDs - were
presented to the House of Commons by Tony Blair “with a certainty that was not justified”.

• That despite explicit warnings to the prime minister from his intelligence sources and others,
the consequences of the invasion were underestimated; and the planning and preparations for
Iraq after Saddam were wholly inadequate. One result: that in spite of the heavy casualties
involved both immediately and thereafter, the UK government failed to achieve its stated objectives.
Whatever the invasion of Iraq was or was not, it was not a success story.

Lol...Obama has been in office for 7 years, the Democrats controlled Congress for 2 years.  Neither investigated Bush for the illegal invasion of Iraq.  Now you think a British inquiry is going to get Bush and his accomplices?  You're living in a fairytale.

Tony Blair will not be put on trial for war crimes but British soldiers could be, prosecutors at the International Criminal Court have said.

Ahead of the long-awaited publication of the Chilcot report on Wednesday, lawyers at the court have ruled out prosecuting the former prime minister for war crimes because it says the decision to go to war is outside its remit.

Instead the ICC says lawyers will comb through the 2.6 million word document for evidence of war crimes committed by British troops during the war

There has never been enough votes in Congress to bring G Worst Bush to Justice.
I doubt it will ever happen... that is just not politically possible.
I would like to see an investigation that points out the actual declassified FACTS of what happened
to get us into that war, and the result of those actions worldwide.

Hmmm...The Obama administration granted Bush and the rest of the war criminals immunity.  No congressional votes needed.

Obama DOJ Asks Court to Grant Immunity to George W. Bush For Iraq War

By Inder Comar

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif., (Aug. 20, 2013) — In court papers filed today (PDF), the United States Department of Justice requested that George W. Bush, Richard Cheney, Donald Rumsfeld, Colin Powell, Condoleezza Rice and Paul Wolfowitz be granted procedural immunity in a case alleging that they planned and waged the Iraq War in violation of international law.

Plaintiff Sundus Shaker Saleh, an Iraqi single mother and refugee now living in Jordan, filed a complaint in March 2013 in San Francisco federal court alleging that the planning and waging of the war constituted a “crime of aggression” against Iraq, a legal theory that was used by the Nuremberg Tribunal to convict Nazi war criminals after World War II.

"The DOJ claims that in planning and waging the Iraq War, ex-President Bush and key members of his Administration were acting within the legitimate scope of their employment and are thus immune from suit,” chief counsel Inder Comar of Comar Law said.

Perhaps that decision should be revisited.

In every other Republican Convention in my lifetime, no matter how much primary squabbling,
the party would unite under it's nominee.  Trump changed all that.  This year many are boycotting
their own party.
