I see that Brandon's Restaurant on Chrisler is "out of business" according to the sign on the door.   And Simply Sterling on Altamont is in their final days of a clearance sale...they plan to close shortly.

add to that, Papa Johns in the Hannaford Plaza, I guess it's just more of the renaissance!

If Brandon's had opened in a different location in the city (which is where it is actually located) or town, it may have done better.  That strip mall is not a good place for an upscale restaurant.

You just can't handle the FACT that the city and town are failing.   Property values DOWN.   Home sale prices OWN.   Home sales DOWN.    Tax base DOWN DRASTICALLY.   Taxes on the DEM party political CRONIES - non existent.   Taxes on the financially struggling homeowners UP UP UP.   Essential services DOWN.   Repairs to roads eliminated in favor of UNNECESSARY "FANCY" lighting.

Outside Schenectady Co, home sales, home prices, home values are UP.

And DV is TOO CHICKEN to address the FACTS so he PRETENDS to have some people blocked.   But right now he is yet again seething, probably foaming at the mouth, that he sees that we "nayboobs" have the proof to support what we say.   And he can't provide one teeny weeny shred of proof that things are improving.

No one has money left fpr dinner after paying the confiscatory taxes, but according to liberals that never hurts the economy

"While Foreign Terrorists were plotting to murder and maim using homemade bombs in Boston, Democrap officials in Washington DC, Albany and here were busy watching ME and other law abiding American Citizens who are gun owners and taxpayers, in an effort to blame the nation's lack of security on US so that they could have a political scapegoat."

You mean they can't continue to operate with non-taxpaying customer(s)?

If a restaurant wants to survive and/or be upscale, then the quality and consistency of their food must be good....it wasn't, and that's liekly why they failed!

Grappa 72 is doing VERY well in a strip mall on Central Ave in Albany... and Carmines did very well in the same location for years before that.

Bottom line, if the food AND management is good, then people will come and the place with flourish.
Petta's has survived for years in it's ghetto location...

Rumor has it the owner had some personal issues that led to the places downfall.

That Brandon's was bustling there, for a while. The strip mall was the place to be. The pizza place looked to be doing well too.

That strip mall on Central Avenue is in a great location -- lots of traffic and easily accessible from I-90.  It is in close proximity to Colonie/Loudonville and the State Office Campus and lots of other offices and businesses,  Carmine's was very nicely set up/decorated and looked upscale.

You can't say that about the strip mall on the corner of Chrisler and Altamont.  Whoever planned the I-890 exit did a lousy job, you can't get off I-890 and drive down Chrisler towards Altamont.  It didn't make it easyfor the new Brandon's to become a destination restaurant -- like the old Brandon's was.  The menu was too pricey for what really works well in that strip mall -- a neighborhood eatery.  And, the set up of Brandon's was too pedestrian for the upscale type of restaurant that it was trying to be.

Personally -- as someone who's family patronized the original Brandon's for many years beginning WAYYYY back before it moved to Van Van Vranken St. -- Don Williams was the key to the success of the original venture.
