The woman who was a victim of a burglary, in Mont Pleasant area.
If you heard her at the meeting, she got home, first called the police at 3:30 in the afternoon, called them again two hours later and was told something about an emergency. I think she said she called again another two hours later. And again around 11:30 pm, either she said she called again, or just said she was going to bed.
When she got up in the morning, she said she found a message on her phone that the PD called her at 3:15 a.m. saying there is a cop outside her door, i.e., responding to her call!
Really? First of all, for paying almost the highest taxes in the country, her home value going down with taxes going up, while she pays for the taxes of the millionaires downtown and for their buildings, in return for her taxes the police cannot respond in a reasonable time, and then for the police to DARE try to reach her in the middle of the night!
Not sure if there is not enough cops or they aren't going their job right. Police understaffed, if that's the case, why? Oh yeah, the tax money is being handed over to the the millionaire downtown while the city cuts services. Is anyone going to comment and say this isn't true? Provide evidence?
Optimists close their eyes and pretend problems are non existent. Better to have open eyes, see the truths, acknowledge the negatives, and speak up for the people rather than the politicos and their rich cronies.

There is no shortage of police that is for sure, even if there was a 12 hour wait for a burglary call holy crap
"In the beginning of a change, the Patriot is a scarce man, brave, hated and scorned. When his cause succeeds, however, the timid join him, for then it costs nothing to be a Patriot."
Tere's so much crime in the city they can't keep up. Cops were chasing a couple of guys thru the yards in my neighborhood tonight, something to do with a car on Robinson St. I believe I heard on the scanner they were caught somewhere around Elm or Linden. I believe 2 or 3 cop cars, maybe more were involved with this. You did see the article in the paper today about the Carrie St situation with the lady and her pool among other things. I guess having an article written about it is what it takes to spur some action on the city's part. Something has to give, after all they are pouring resources into chasing down ladies and their sidewalks.
4t of July, New Year's eve - sometimes the call volume on those days is unbelievable.
Still, I understand the lady's frustration - your home gets violated and you wait 12 hours for someone to come and investigate. Probably could not be helped that evening, but that is little consolation if you are that lady.
Pretty immature and unprofessional response by the officer she encountered at the station - "Contact the Mayor, City Council and tell them to hire more police." Yeah, it's just hat simple in this economy.
We're going to have to catch a replay, not 1005 sure, maybe someone can confirm. Did the mayor say something at the end of the meeting that no, people should not come to the council but this has to go through the chain of command? I know he specifically said chain of command, but was it that woman's long wait for a cop that McC was talking about.
But the DEM LEADERSHIP in the city can spent plenty on downtown, give money to the MULTI millionaire developers and property owners downtown and exempt them from paying taxes for the services they receive from the city, but the taxpaying homeowners has to wait 12 hours for a cop to respond, and then respond in the middle of the night when most people are sleeping.
We ALL want the city to improve, Schenectady is a nice city, but it's going to take a TOTAL change in leadership, city AND county, and then one has to wonder how long it's going to take to undo the damage done by the DEMS.

It was one bad apple who said bad things. NOT THE GENERAL ATTITUDE, right.
"While Foreign Terrorists were plotting to murder and maim using homemade bombs in Boston, Democrap officials in Washington DC, Albany and here were busy watching ME and other law abiding American Citizens who are gun owners and taxpayers, in an effort to blame the nation's lack of security on US so that they could have a political scapegoat."
you know what???......Mont Pleasant is an island now....and now part of the city......with the Oak St Bridge out.....it isolates and access to that area is almost impossible...
that's what needs to be addressed too........time lapses in response time depends where, when and why the police are when dispatched.....
it is not an island since everyone there can go to Rottendamn to steal
