This might very well be a sham once again, sort of. Just noticing the relationship of the numbers. I have a friend who did hers, I would show her numbers but she didn't want it posted so I respect her (especially because she is going to the next step)
Remember this one excerpt from my first post in the "McCarthy Gala" thread of a week ago, I posted this:
-- House on Lexington Pkwy - Asking almost a quarter million dollars for W2W carpeting instead of hardwood floor? And WOEFULLY OUTDATED blue carpeting!!!!!! ICK wallpaper in the dining room, and a room with paper border OUTDATED.
Oh, the listing tries to appease prospective buyers buy saying "owner grieving taxes." Too bad they won't have an answer by Sunday because, we all know that even though McC's political hacks on the assessment board signed their decisions and envelopes were all stuffed on May 30, they won't mail them in time for buyers to find out the result by Sunday's open house. But then, we all know the answer anyway, "denied, insufficient data."
...
Naturally I do not know what assessment value the owner asked to be reduced to, but here is the result.
What I noticed is that the assessment value on the final roll is roughly the same or very close to as what the "full market value" was on the tentative roll. Do you see the underlined?
But a friend of mine also was reduced in that "pattern," e.g., IF the tentative roll had her assessment as $100,000 which would have a full market value of $92,953, then the final assessment value would be roughly $93,500 and show a full market value of $86,575.
Optimists close their eyes and pretend problems are non existent. Better to have open eyes, see the truths, acknowledge the negatives, and speak up for the people rather than the politicos and their rich cronies.
In other words, I think that the LAZY board members AGAIN ignored the FACTS, but probably were informed that they homeowners were going to SCAR or certorari and winning, so they needed to do something.
So the board might have just taken a mathematical formula and applied it uniformily to all grievants.
Can't be 100% certain. But if anyone grieved or knows of someone else who did and will send me a PM, I'll look up the tentative and the final and see if there is really some formula that was applied.
And IF some pretty much uniform math formula was used, then that's a scam, because it would be proof that the board didn't review the grievances.
They are probably hoping that a small reduction will appease people.

By the way, if I read correctly, it's between a 7 to 8 MILLION DOLLAR drop based on grievances.
Now, the FACT is that the board most likely did NOT reduce homes to their REAL market value, so people MUST still go to SCAR.
Yep, continuing DROP IN THE CITY'S TAX BASE, continuing DROP in home values under the DEM leadership, while outside of Schenectady, home values are rising!
Let's be HONEST about the city, face and accept the FACTS, the TRUTHS:
-- Under the DEM leadership, home values are falling -- Under the DEM leadership, the city's tax base is falling -- Under the DEM leadership, the taxes on the homeowners are rising -- Under the DEM leadership, the politically connected multi-millionaires are having their properties exempt from having to pay taxes.
Face and accept these FACTS and TRUTHS, spread the word.
Even if we do not live IN the city, we still want the city to improve because a city in good condition helps the suburbs too.
So whether you live in the city or in a suburb, please make sure that the TRUE FACTS about the city are shared with everyone that lives IN the city. There is a critical need to have almost complete change in leadership, vote out ALL current city council members. In two years, eliminate the current mayor and those DEM council members whose term expires in two years, KEEP VINCE RIGGI!!!!
Demand an end to the tax exemptions for downtown, and eliminate ALL tax money going to downtown.
Then the city will start to see a renaissance
STOP hiding the negatives. Ignoring the negatives, avoiding negativity will just allow the negatives to continue to exist. Sorry, DV, but that is the TRUTH. While you claim the city is in a grand renaissance it is obvious you are avoiding the city like the plague that it is, why are you avoiding living in the city??? You know we speak the truth, but it would hurt too much for you to admit YOU are wrong.
BY the way, DV, here is the EVIDENCE. Where is the evidence of ANYTHING you say about the city????
Optimists close their eyes and pretend problems are non existent. Better to have open eyes, see the truths, acknowledge the negatives, and speak up for the people rather than the politicos and their rich cronies.
It looks to me like they might be slightly reducing taxes on some of these houses that people know about, and denying everybody else. The people I know got nothing. This is twisted and disturbing and wrong. Just lower everybody's taxes, you bunch of morons! Brain Surgeon BS raised the taxes sky high to get a better rating from Moody's. That was a mistake. He's gone on to mess things up elsewhere. Fix the mistake! There are people who want houses, they should be able to benefit from the bust, McCheese is interfering in the market. Let the people sell their houses, let the decent newcomers get a bargain! They are already taking a risk buying here, give them, and the rest of us, a break!
