not a safe place anymore....and it's too bad....great place for Sunday concerts and movies for the kids.....
Casino will never be like it was back in the late 40' and 50's... government doesn't care......downtown is where the money is pouring into....instead of taking care a historic safe place for the community....
The rose garden is perfectly safe during daylight hours, there are too many normal people visiting and driving past for there to be any problems. No oneneeds to be frightened of going there. Police also go past there on a fairly regular basis.
They could fertilize the rose gardens for a year or several years with the foolish bull crap that Patches posts.

There are problems in that park due to lack of oversight, I will not deny that. The rose garden is along the border and hasn't seen a murder in quite some time. seriously, if anyone wants to see the garden, it is fine and safe during daylight this time of year. It's usually quite busy.
so very nice for you to give applause.......if that is the only thing to go to the park for.....I won't.......been there and have seen what goes on during the day...unruly children....and obscene adults....
along with bulling of smaller children just wanting to have fun....this is my opinion and I don';t take my children anywhere where any of this happens.....my choice????....COLLINS PARK.......there you see security....
and if there is an incident???.....YOU'RE OUTTA HERE !!!!!!!!!!!
Collins Park has its "issues" but apparently someone is too blind to notice.
On the bright side, many people are very happy that a certain nayboob has promised to never venture in Central Park. Quite frankly, they say that she was scaring them and making them feel uneasy to be there.

ya know something....DV is the BULLY OF ROTTENDAM.......hides behind the façade of thinking he can rant his dirt and slander.....someday....it will come around......blocking him is the best thing anyone can do for themselves..
No individual was slandered nor bullied. Just proves that a certain nayboob can dish out criticism but can't take it.
As for Central Park, it is a beautiful park and many people use it and enjoy it. If one chooses not to go there, then don't go there.

It's a nice park, but explain, DV, the taxpayers pay for the park and they are seeing fewer of their tax dollar spent on the park, no more birds, roosters, pheasants and the like. No more train. No more "Central Park Flyer." DRASTICALLY reduced care for the lake for winter skating. No more spending the taxpayers money for lights and music for night skating. A road was closed to cars. Look at how the tennis stadium is in shambles. No more "Tuesday in the Park" which brought tens of thousands of people to the park. Pool which has problems every year. No more week of world class tennis.
Fewer tax dollars spent on the park, but tax dollars available to hand out to millionaires downtown. Less stuff in the park but put money into millionaires downtown.
Spend money on the park and cut spending of TAXPAYERS' MONDY on downtown - THAT would help the city's tax base and attract people to live IN the city---but you will be TOTALLY SILENT on the stealing from the taxpayers to give to the downtown millionaires while Central Park has been substantially cut. -- right? TOTAL SILENCE to provide EVIDENCE of how spending on downtown is increasing the city's tax base - total silence because spending on downtown is NOT helping the city and you can't provide proof to the contrary.

ta hell with the rose garden!!! ya don't see folks flocking to buy homes in SCUMnectady because of the rose garden. It's a waste of taxpayer's $$$$!!!
sure...go look at roses....then hope you don't get murdered, mugged or approached by a drug dealer or prostitute on the way there and/or back!
then go home and pay your 'highest in the state' taxes!
paleeeeeeez!!

I don't think all that much tax money is spent on the rose garden, it's largely volunteers. Unfortunately it's not as big of area space as Albany's tulips in Washington park. It think it would be nice for people to come look at the roses in the same way as they look at the tulips, and the park in Albany has crowds of people looking at the tulips on days other than the festival itself. But people don't buy in Albany just because of tulips in the park. It's just something nice to go look at, and actually in central Park, the roses are in bloom a lot longer than the tulips in Albany. But where is there a rose festival in Schenectady, Do they even have a rose queen anymore? It used to be quite a big deal
Yes it's nice to have a park, but spending on the park has been drastically cut while spending on downtown--money to millionaires--has been increased. And the spending on downtown has NOT helped to improve the city at all, it has caused the city to get worse. Some people say the city is improving because of downtown, but are TOTALLY SILENT when asked to provide EVIDENCE of improvements.
