There is nothing in the article that says that Police entered the store BEFORE they got a warrant..!!!

But it says they were refused the items. That implies they asked for them, either in person or by phone.

It also implies that they refused to give up the articles after police entered with a warrant
....or....
Police could have entered the store without a warrant on a tip that
the stolen goods were there, and that is totally legal....no warrant needed for that!
They could have stated they were looking for stolen goods, and that is legal....no warrant needed for that.
They could have seen the articles in question in the display case and stated to the owners that
they were stolen and asked for them, and that is totally legal....no warrant needed for that.
The articles, if in the display case, were in public view...no warrant needed to identify them and
tell the owners they were stolen and ask for them to be surrendered....still no warrant needed.
Once they refused (if this is actually the scenario), then they sent for a warrant so they could seize the items....now a warrant is needed.

Damn policewith their storm trooper tactics, searching stores without search warrants again!
Bunch of illegal ba$tards stepping all over civil liberties!!!!!!!

JUST BECAUSE SISSY SAYS SO DOESN'T MAKE IT SO...BUT HE THINKS IT DOES!!!!!
JUST BECAUSE MC1 SAYS SO DOESN'T MAKE IT SO!!!!!

The two men own and operate Regency Jewelers in Rotterdam, and state police investigators were able to develop information concerning stolen property following the investigation of the residential burglary of New York State Assemblyman Peter Lopez' residence that occurred in April 2013.
Stolen property from the burglary was located at their store and the two refused to release it to investigators. According to police, this impeded the recovery of the stolen property by its rightful owner.

A search warrant was executed, with the assistance of the Rotterdam Police Department, at Regency Jewelers and the stolen property was recovered. Both men were issued appearance tickets to appear in Rotterdam Court.
