The fact is that metered parking is a way to charge a LEGITIMATE user fee on folks who use tax-payer funded, municipal on street parking. It is only fair that the people who use the parking space pay something towards the cost of providing and maintaining the parking space. Frankly -- if people don't want to pay a nominal parking fee than the cities should just pass an ordinance making it illegal to park on any city street and let people find off street parking for themselves or take public transportation.
The FACT is that downtown property owners should EXPECT to pay their FULL SHARE
By the way, it IS legal to park on most all streets throughout the city, one does not even need to be a taxpayer, not a renter, not even a resident of the city, one does not even need to be a resident of the state to park on the majority of streets in the city. Just observe some alternate side parking rules, restrictions by fire hydrants, etc. Oh, no charge by the way.
Optimists close their eyes and pretend problems are non existent. Better to have open eyes, see the truths, acknowledge the negatives, and speak up for the people rather than the politicos and their rich cronies.

The FACT is that downtown property owners should EXPECT to pay their FULL SHARE of taxes in order to be downtown. they are filthy rich millionaires to begin with, then YOUR BUDDY DEMS choose to STEAL from the financially struggling, over taxes taxpayers in order to give these millionaires millions of taxpayer dollars to build/renovate these buildings.
Then on top of that YOUR BUDDY DEMS, and you shake your pom poms to them, STEAL MORE from the homeowners in the city by making the homeowners in the city pay the taxes for these downtown properties via the 100% permament tax exemptions.
You'd think these millionaires could cover all the parking expenses for the on street and parking lots downtown. Why not?

Now be certain, DV, that you don't provide a response. Not man enough to say anything against the excessive taxing of homeowners in the city and all the taxpayer handouts do the downtown millionaire political cronies while the people of the city see NOTHING, ABSOLUTELY NOTHING good in return, nothing but falling tax base, falling home values, increasing taxes and feels, but of course, you refuse to address the FACTS

I didn't complain about paying for parking. I know who pays for what in Schenectady, and it isn't you. I am not drawing any connection with what private businesses do where I don't live. Why would I? That would be comparing apples to oranges, only stupider.
You don't want to draw the connection because then you'd have to admit that you were wrong. You also seem to be suggesting that you have some omniscient power to know who pays taxes and fees -- I may not own property in the city but I certainly do enough shopping there so I pay sales tax (and even the part of the sales tax I pay in other parts of the county go to the city) and I don't mind paying a user fee (metered parking) for parking in Downtown Schenectady.
I see your friend the he/she monkey has a couple of posts -- none of which I will read -- same old crap over and over again --- crying and stamping his/her feet like a spoiled dirty diaper baby.

You shop in the city? With what money, you have no with income. Mamas' money
What do you buy IN the city? There's NOTHING to buy IN the city but food and drink. From the mouth of one who says he rarely goes out to eat, yep.
Gee, if you didn't read my posts, how can you claim I say the same "old crap" over and over again. By the way, that "old crap" is not crap but it is total FACTUAL STATEMENTS supported with the OVERWHELMING EVIDENCE that I provide over and over again.
Where is the evidence to prove the things you say?
You won't respond to me because you know that I am totally right, you know that I tell the truth and it's proven by the evidence, and you won't respond to me because then you would have to admit you are totally wrong.
So, DV, since the millionaires downtown got their buildings courtesy of the taxpayers, and since the millionaires downtown get their property taxes paid courtesy of the taxpayers, how about if the millionaires pay for the parking downtown? Isn't that fair? If not, why not. oh, no response, too embarrassed to admit you are wrong

There is a two tier system. One for connected DEM morons and another for the sheeple. You feed the parking meter-you get towed. They get parking set asides and they no pay. Easy solution avoid Downtown like the plague. They need more parking for bombs like Billy Elliott. There is no retail Downtown the last store Rudnick's is closing. Keep the DEM implosion going!

So true! So SADLY true.
The reasons why city people need to be told over and and over again, and reminded over and over again, how the DEMS are KILLING the city, how the DEMS have caused a MASSIVE reduction in the tax base in the city, how the DEMS hare STEALING from the financially struggling homeowners forcing them to pay for the property taxes of the downtown millionaires, how the DEMS are causing home values in the city to plummet beyond belief, how the DEMS are causing home sale prices to fall while OUTSIDE of Schenectady/Schenectady county home sale prices are INCREASING, how the ESSENTIAL services to city residents - IN THE NEIGHBORHOODS - are being reduced while the millionaires downtown get everything for free, how the DEMS have taken money from the homeowners (money the homeowners have intended to use to fix up their own homes) to use the money for fancy expensive remodels, and a lavish gold ceiling for King Phillip who WILLFULLY AND ILLEGALLY failed to answer truthfully about his ownership of two houses-thus allowing him to STEAL from the taxpayers via two STAR exemptions (which remember this squeaky wheel broke the story, presented the FACTS, presented the TRUTH WITH EVIDENCE here, on this site).
So folks, be sure you just keep passing the word, tell the truth to any friends, family, neighbors, co-workers, casual acquaintences, people you pass in a supermarket, in a department store, on the street, etc, etc. Make sure they know what the city and county dems, and plex are doing. Link them to these boards, show them the EVIDENCE -- the comparison of assessment rolls which shows the drop in the tax base, show them how as the tax base drops THEIR OWN TAX BILLS must rise while the millionaires downtown don't pay anything, show them the home sale prices falling, show them how the city is refusing to reduce the assessments, show them how OUTSIDE of Schenectady home values are increasing, show them the blight in the neighborhoods in the city that the DEMS are IGNORING while lavishing tens, hundreds of millions upon their millionaire political cronies downtown who don't pay taxes.
The very survival of Schenectady depends on ordinary people telling the TRUTH about the city and presenting the EVIDENCE.

Rudenicks closed due to their own business decisions and practices. Stop looking to point the blame elsewhere.

And your evidence is?????
Rudnicks stayed in business through the best of times AND worst of times. Most importantly, THEY PAID THEIR TAXES!!!!!!!!!!!
So now, your dems make Rudnicks pay not only Rudnicks's taxes, but ALSO the taxes of the millionaire political cronies.
Are you MAN ENOUGH to explain how the dems raising taxes on a small family oriented business and making them pay taxes for the millionaires is the fault of Rudnicks?????
Remember what the owner said, DV, or were you too chicken to read it????? Here words and it is the TOTAL TRUTH:
Quoted Text
But Tolokonsky, 66, said she cannot get past how the Schenectady Metroplex Development Authority has changed downtown. She pointed to black and white pictures on the wall that show a seven-lane thoroughfare down State Street, its blocks filled with stores. She feels that retail has been ignored in favor of Proctors theater and restaurants.
"It's time to close the store," said Tolokonsky, ..... "The atmosphere in downtown has not been positive enough for retail," she said, adding, "Downtown has to be more than bars and grills."
dV, are you MAN ENOUGH to address that TRUTH?
Where is the downtown retail, DV????? Huh????? Can you answer that???????
DV WILL NOT RESPOND TO THAT - GUARANTEED !!!
Too much of a chicken, not man enough to admit the truth.
Even REFUSES to write about the DRASTIC annual reductions to the city's tax base because of HIS DEMS and their stupid metroplex

Word from a 51 yr old mamas' boy who knows so little about business that he doesn't own a business, can't even get employed by a business, can't even get employed by government. ROFL
by the way, how's your expired insurance license?

I am not going to comment on the foolishness about the meters beyond this, because what happens at private businesses elsewhere has no bearing on what happens to my money here in the city I live in. I will say this: The money to be WASTED on unnecessary (look up necessary if you don't understand the concept) meters for downtown should instead be given to the Free Clinic to keep it open. At once. The clinic is the one true charity out of all the freeloading not-for-profits in the whole damned city. The doctors, outstanding, intelligent, decent, hardworking taxpayers all, freely DONATE their time to taking care of sick people who would otherwise be unable to go tothe doctor. They do it on a shoestring budget, because nobody involved is a high-end freeloader. Yet, they have to go begging for the relatively small amount of cash they need in order to keep GIVING AWAY THEIR HARD WORK FOR FREE. This disgusts me. The whole clinic operates on a budget roughly equal to or even less than the salary of one of these good for nothing connected types running your typical "charity" that does nothing for anybody except those in on it. Philip Morris, Schenectady's first non-resident patroon, that kickball director/toilet salesman for DSS, that nuisance woman who extorted money from the taxpayers for that poverty palace on State Street, none of those do-gooders DONATE their time, yet we fund them instead of a clinic for sick people. I think that either McCheese takes the money for the meters and gives it to the clinic, or, anyone in on the meter purchase or supporting it in any way can take one of the new meters and shove it sideways up their {BLEEP} in an attempt to get their heads out or maybe get their brains working again, because that is where their brains are, if they have any. Can I get an AMEN?
The new metering system will SAVE the city money in the long run. It makes sense. There really isn't any thing else to argue or say about the matter.

There's nothing else to say about the matter?
Why do you REFUSE to explain why taxpayers have to pay to park in order to shop IN ADDITION TO paying the taxes on the downtown properties??????
Why can't the downtown millionaires pay for all the parking and provide it free to the people who paid for their new buildings AND pay for the taxes on top of that?
Yeah, keep saying "there's nothing else to say about the matter."
What are the people, the RESIDENTS of the city getting to benefit THE RESIDENTS of the NEIGHBORHOODS in return for the pay-parking downtown????? Can you answer that?????
Because DV is wrong, AND HE KNOWS IT, he chooses to avoid answering.
It's so nice when the majority of people on these boards provide explanation for their statements, but DV, nope, just basically a "metered parking is good for the city" but REFUSES to explain HOW IT BENEFITS THE RESIDENTS
Just like he continuously says "the city is improving" but refuses to explain how, refuses to address the pluummeting tax base, falling home values, increasing taxes, etc.
Just not man enough to provide any evidence.
