Sheldon Silver's handling of sexual harassment issues in the State Assembly is abominable and, imho, criminal. He should have been sacked 10 years ago when he covered up the sexual abuse scandal of an Assembly staffer. He should be sacked for trying to cover up the Vito Lopez sex scandal. Now he wants a commission to monitor the commission that was supposed to tell him how to behave properly when such harassment cases came up --- and in my opinion, the fact that a supposedly top notch lawyer and top member of the state legislature needs a commission to tell him how to act properly says volumes about him, lawyers in general and our state legislature in general.
Those who say that government in Albany are wrong. It is worse than ever. They just are telling each other and us that it is o.k. and hoping that no one will actually notice that it is as corrupt or more corrupt than ever before.
At least one Democratic Assembly person has the courage to leave the conference in protest and stand up for what is right. Apparently, the others don't have the common sense and integrity to take a similar stand or to demand that Sheldon Silver be thrown out as Speaker of the Assembly and expelled from the State Assembly. |
