mc1, I'm not defending this one, but there must be an awful lot of people without even the most rudimentary grasp of finance out there. This helps explain why the big banks were able to dupe so many in the mortgage scams. What bothers me most is that they keep putting stuff like this in the paper. There are people who haven't been shopping for houses or trying to sell houses in Schenectady who saw that silly story with the cake and all and would have no reason to disbelieve it. The same with this "in the black" story. Maybe people didn't read all the stories about unpaid bills or they forgot or they didn't care, but there shouldn't be bogus claims presented as fact in the newspapers. I expect stories will sometimes be incomplete, inaccurate in some details, or one-sided, but this is ridiculous. |
