City Sues Good Samaritans Who Feed Strangers’ Parking Meters

A group of six self-described “Robin Hooders,” who estimate they’ve saved about 4,000 New Hampshire motorists from parking tickets by feeding their expired meters, now faces a lawsuit in the small city where they’ve been active since December.

The small band of residents, local members of a larger New Hampshire libertarian movement called the Free State Project, play a cat-and-mouse game with meter maids in Keene, N.H., looking for parked cars in front of meters that have expired. Staying about 20 feet ahead of the city’s small squad of ticket-writing meter maids, they re-up expired meters and leave behind calling cards that show an image of Robin Hood on one side and a quote — “We saved you from the king’s tariff! — Robin Hood and his Merry Men. Please consider paying it forward.” — on the other.

In the suit, the city’s three meter maids complain the Robin Hooders have “regularly, repeatedly, and intentionally taunted, interfered with, harassed, and intimidated” them by “following, surrounding, touching or nearly touching, and otherwise taunting and harassing.” The suit asks the court to order the group to keep a 50-foot distance from the meter maids — at least one of whom has complained of getting heart palpitations from the stress — at all times.

The group’s members have told various media outlets the city is having to stretch the truth in order to make claims like that, noting that none of them has been charged with harassment.

“The Robin Hooders have always been courteous in my experience,” defendant Ian Freeman told NBC News. “The city is upset because they are losing revenue and are coming up with anything they can to try to stop it.”

“I don’t follow them home or try to find them off duty,” defendant James Cleaveland, who knows the meter maids by name, told Reuters. “They always use the excuse ‘I’m just doing my job.’ I always say ‘I’m just doing my activity too.’

“It’s my philosophy. I could go talk to the city council at every meeting but to me, actions speak louder than words.”

Those actions are a lot more popular with residents in the “Live Free or Die” State than with the city. The group’s “Free Keene” Facebook page has nearly 5,000 friends, and drivers quoted in local and national reports favor what the Robin Hooders are doing — and the spirit in which they’re going about it.

Bailing people out of $5 parking tickets isn’t the toughest fight the Free State Project’s Keene chapter has waged. The group has also supported relaxing drug laws by publicly smoking marijuana in a downtown protest. In 2009, the group protested attacks on the 2nd Amendment by having a half-naked woman walk through the city armed with a holstered handgun.

Schenectady is "doing so well" that the COWARDLY WUSS  avoids and refuses to comment on the FACTS, the FACTS being DRASTIC REDUCTIONS of:
- the city's tax base
-  home values
- the ability of people to sell their city homes
- the willingness of people to buy a home IN the city

The COWARDLY WUSS will NOT address closure of the long established TAXPAYING businesses downtown because they could not compete with the tax exempt businesses owned my the millionaire dem cronies

And after a couple years already, the COWARDLY WUSS absolutely REFUSES to provide one teeny weeny shred of EVIDENCE in support of his comment that the county taxes are lower than 50 years ago.    No matter how many times anyone challenges him to explain HOW county taxes are lower than 50 years ago, he not only REFUSES to produce evidence, he will not even address the challenge --because he has no proof and he's too much of a wuss to admit that he is merely a puppet copying and pasting lies, propaganda, and other fairy tales from dem campaign literature.  He's not man enough to admit that he falls for such political propaganda!

Don't even need to look because for sure it's one of your fantasy's off those x-rated sites you go to in the middle of the night when your two mommies are sleeping.

I don't need a fantasy date, I have a wife that any guy would drool over; even a mama's boy would too.  We open the pool this weekend but I couldn't ever invite you for a swim because I wouldn't want to have to empty the pool for cleansing after protein is squirted into it and have to fill it up again and wait for the water to get the chill off (we don't have a heater for it)

Just as I thought, the city has not included the payment to the county or to the school district, according to Vince Riggi. How are all these people claiming financial improvement? If it doesn't make sense, it probably isn't true. That is Judge Judy's philosophy, I believe. Well that press release didn't make sense to me and I thought that as much as I would like it to be so, it couldn't be. And guess what? It isn't true. I just don't understand how there are these other people going along with disseminating this nonsense as fact.

I wonder if we are going to hear from Roger Hull about this report. This shouldn't be allowed to just be out there, unchallenged, to influence the gullible.

Someone who was only informed from the press releases in the paper, and didn't live here, might believe that Schenectady was doing well, but I doubt it. Most of the people I know who are non-residents believe Schenectady to be a violent, dirty, expensive hellhole with rogue cops. The only people whodon't live here and say it is doing well turn out to be individuals with a finger in the pie somewhere.

Anyway, being "in the black' because you overcharged homeowners and didn't pay creditors and let things go such as water service, even if that were so, which I do not believe, that would not be something to brag about, it would rate about a 1 on a scale of 1 to 10 for competent government. That is not what I call doing well. Maybe it's because I live here, and I have an understanding of civics and government, and also a grasp of finance and budgeting.

That's why both Moody's and the State Comptroller denounced the DEMS huge debt. That's why Moody lowered the City's rating two full grades. That's why 700 homes are being foreclosed including churches.
When you don't pay your bills you have a temporary surplus. A DEM moron fiscal free fall with no bottom in site. Highest unemployment in the Capital District. Anyone who thinks it's a Renaissance try selling your
property. A house on Randolph Rd sold FOR a mere $32,000! And that's one of the better neighborhoods .

DV is the TRUE cowardly cuckoo because he lacks the courage to speak about the falling tax base in the city, the falling home values, the increasing taxes.   He fears having to admit that these things are happening on the watch of his buddy dems' leadership.  He is ignorant about how the leadership of the city, and the while uncontrolled UNNECESSARY spending on downtown is causing massive failure in the city, DOCUMENTED by people fleeing the city in great masses.  


Not to mention, as he is not nor has ever been a taxpayer, is is totally IGNORANT in the FACT that a surplus is NOT really a surplus when you avoid paying bills just to make it appear that there is a surplus.
