Schenectady’s Alliance party backs GOP for council races

Party founder and former Union College president Roger Hull said Thursday that his party is endorsing GOP City Council candidates Joe Kelleher and Joe Lazzari in the November election.

Hull had been confident earlier in the year that his party would have its own candidates. But apparently, the pool was robust enough. The GOP made its choices some weeks ago.

Not being endorsed by Hull is the GOP’s third candidate, Mary McClaine.

They’ll face Democratic incumbents Marion Porterfield and Carl Erikson and Democrat John Mootooveren.

Huummm, why Hull's Alliance didn't endorse Mary?

Just a guess, but she may have been critical of Roger back when the rest of city government was in love with Union College and Roger walked on water.
It could be that they like the Erickson guy, because he's demonstrated the ability to think, act like an adult, and put the good of the city first, at times.
Poor Mary. She has guts.

Riggi nixed it. He is the only elected Alliance Party office holder. Big pickup for Joe Lazzari who has a good shot at the open seat.
