Did anyone catch it? The next council meeting "Monday" would be May 27 but that is Memorial Day
So the meeting was referenced as May 28.
But is Grievance "day." So the council room is booked and the council cannot have their meeting that night.
So the council meeting is scheduled now for Wednesday May 29.
Does ANYONE think for a moment that people are gleefully happy in the city, that homeowners think the city is having a renaissance, and that all the grievances will be heard in just one day because so few will grieve?
Can you imagine sitting there, waiting for your appointment only to be told, "sorry, we can't hear your grievamce, the council is having their meeting, you'll have to come tomorrow"
Optimists close their eyes and pretend problems are non existent. Better to have open eyes, see the truths, acknowledge the negatives, and speak up for the people rather than the politicos and their rich cronies.
This is really awful, that they are making property owners all go through this ordeal. People have families, and jobs, they don't have time for this kind of abuse from government. It would be different if what was being paid for with the taxes was things like sewer pipes and roads, but no, it's for Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous, or Lifestyles of Losers Who Are Smarter Than You Because You Are Supporting Them. One step at a time. The courts are going to get sick of hearing from Schenectady property owners.

Property owners would go through this ordeal also if the city did do a citywide reassessment, unless the city really assessed on the TRUE market values, based on the EVIDENCE using the ACTUAL sales prices. And if the city explained how they arrive at an assessment value.
But the MAJOR problem is that McC's pollitical dem puppet cronies are totally daydreaming when homeowners appear before them in an assessment board hearing. The EVIDENCE has proven that the board does not listen to one teeny weeny bit of what the homeowner-grievant says.
Really, when the homeowners provide 50 comparable properties within a few block radius, that have sold at 50% lower than the assessment value, and those homes took a year to sell, and when the owners provide a report based on the month by month and year to date sales data (from OFFICIAL records, as opposed to information that Puppet Mary might claim, and the dem crony assessment board members STILLL claim "insufficient data," well, that is TOTALLY WRONG. And there is anything that any cheerleader could say to explain and substantiate that all that evidence is "insufficient."
Fortunately there are additional levels that owners can grieve, it's just extra work but worth it because the city does lose, which just proves that the city and the dem crony assessment board are full of sh*t. At least the hearing officers and judges are not political cronies in that way.

All true! Our neighbor was assessed for more property than he owned. He had the Schenectady County Tax Map parcel that matched his personal survey indicating he had dramatically less property. He took this info to the BAR and was categorically denied, even with a survey. Went to small claims court, and they settled out of court and awarded him the reduction. Going to Small Claims Court is the key to winning just like MC1 stated.

That's incredible
I mean, when people provide comps and the sale prices, there's still opinion involved.
But when it so black and white with the tax map and a survey matching, there's no question. If that was me, even though I knew I could go to SCAR, I would have been on the phone with the mayor and assessor and every council person asking who these freaks are that they appointed to the BOA. And if it took me going to the news media, I'd go, again, yes, value based on sales of comps is subjective to a point, but clear error, clear hard evidence, I would expect that the BOA would have to be requried to state WHY it's not sufficient info. I'd ask the assessor what additional info is needed.
But of course, pass the buck, they'd say "go to SCAR."
The media needs to be contacted, like the hard questions that Ch 6 asks in the "you paid for it." Really, think about this, the board of assessment members ARE being paid several thousand dollars. In theory they hear grievances for one day only (in the city it should take weeks, but doesn't because the board does not allow homeowners to state their case, you can't say much in only two minutes or so). So then the two panels meet together as one and review all the printed documentation.
Since the dem puppet crony BOA members simply rubber stamp EACH AND EVERY grievance as "denied, insufficient data" a "you paid for it" segment on Channel 6 is ENTIRELY WARRANTED! What are the taxpayers paying for in paying a stipend to the BOA members who do NOTHING, absolutely NOTHING.
So get the word out to all in the city. Go ahead and call Greg Floyd, tell him you are going to grieve. Provide him a copy of your grievance. Then when the dem cronies rubber stamp everything, let him see what he can find out. Can you imagine if 100 people contacted that Greg Floyd, just a mere 100, and all got (POSITIVELY WILL GET) the same "denied...." response.
What are they getting the stipend for? You paid for it.
Yes, I like this idea. Pass this idea around. There really should be thousands filing grievances however.
