The President, like the CEO is responsible to find corruption or mistakes and correct it.
Punishment, if appropriate, should come from the criminals immediate supervisor, not the CEO.
Again... There is no connection between the White House and this incident.
Huh? This was going on for TWO YEARS. If a company had a record of discriminatroy hiring practices for TWO YEARS, and the CEO didn't know about it, do you think the lawyers are suing the front line manager? Do you think the board of directors of a publicly held company is going to be satisfied with firing Suzie from HR that was in charge of hiring for the mail room?
Where is the punishment box? It is TWO YEARS after the fact. Why would a "low level" employee choose to profile based on political ideology? What would give somebody on that level such an idea if it has never been done in the past? The IRS has been around for 100 years, and in 2010 they start deciding on who they are going to audit by targeting organizations that sound like they have a right wing slant? Why didn't they choose a left wing sounding name.
Here's the problem box. Obama's public persona has been that he is the smartest guy in the room. He's the guy that is smooth and has everything under control. Now, we have department after department showing evidence of abuses, and because of that public persona, the American people believe that the White House knew about it. And the polls are beginning to reflect that.
I worked for a LARGE company a few years back where ONE middle supervision guy was sexually harrassing the girls. They went through the proper channels (supervisors above this guy) directed by this company with their complaints of sexual harrassment for months...and still no resolve.
Finally one of the girls was going to retain an attorney. The CEO got wind of it and immediatly fired the 'middle supervisor'. Why? Cause the CEO said that the CEO of any company would be held 100% responsible for any wrong doing regarding a legal matter such as this. His exact words....'the buck stops with ME/CEO'.
As a side note....the CEO never knew about this issue until an attorney was mentioned. The CEO said that it is the CEO'S responsibility to provide a safe and healthy environment for the workers.
there's more to the story but it would take forever.....

If a GE Employee in Cincinnati was stealing company paperclips for over two years and the CEO didn't know about it... would anyone be surprised? Once discovered, the paper clip theft's immediate supervisor should have taken appropriate action.

Wrong analogy. If the IRS was targeting other IRS agents, that would be the same as a GE employee stealing GE property. Reminder box, the AMERICAN PEOPLE ARE THE CUSTORMERS. The IRS was harming their custormer, a custormer that has no choice but to be subjected to their "service".
That hissing sound you hear is the last of the so-called IRS scandal melting away forever. Like every right-wing faux outrage, it's yet another example of how effortlessly they light up the media, creating smoke but no fire.

First it was Benghazi and now it's the IRS non-scandal which is now an embarrassment for Darrell Issa in a very, very big way. Democrats on the House Ways and Means Committee released 15 lists of terms that the IRS agency used and has provided to congressional investigators. Some of the lists, which evolved over time, used the terms "progressive" and "Tea Party" and others including "Medical Marijuana," "Occupied Territory Advocacy," "Healthcare legislation," "Newspaper Entities" and "Paying National Debt."
The lists were dated between August 2010 and April 2013 — the month before the IRS targeting of conservative groups was revealed. They ranged from 11 pages to 17 pages but were heavily blacked out to protect sensitive taxpayer information.
! So it wasn't just conservative groups who were "persecuted" while spending $500 million or so on the election last year? There were liberal groups, too? Worse yet, the IRS was just doing the job they were supposed to do.
As I've been posting for months about these GOP Invented Scandals... WHAT SCANDAL???
The modern conservative is engaged in one of man's oldest exercises in moral philosophy; that is, the search for a superior moral justification for selfishness. John Kenneth Galbraith
The bombshell IRS audit released in May omitted information about liberal groups at the request of House Oversight Committee Chairman Darrell Issa (R-CA), according to the Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration’s office.
A spokesman for Treasury Inspector General J. Russell George told The Hill on Tuesday that Issa had requested investigators “narrowly focus on tea party organizations.”
The subsequent audit concluded the IRS used “inappropriate criteria” to single out for additional scrutiny tea party groups that applied for tax exempt status. The findings lead almost every politician, including President Barack Obama, to denounce the IRS. Several Republicans suggested the audit indicated the White House had a Nixonian “enemies list.”
Speaking to CNN on Tuesday, Issa said the IRS appeared to have been targeting Obama’s political opponents “perhaps not on his request” but “on his behalf.”
But new documents have revealed that liberal and progressive groups received similar treatment from the IRS. The “inappropriate criteria” used to single out tea party groups — so-called “Be On the Look Out” (BOLO) memos — also singled out progressive and “Occupy” groups.
Maybe this is a SCANDAL after all... and the scandal is House Oversight Committee Chairman Darrell Issa's political investigation, knowingly giving a false impression that only TeaBaggers were singled out, while the reality is that Occupy and other liberal groups were treated in the same manner.

Treasury: IRS targeted 292 Tea Party groups, just 6 progressive groups By PAUL BEDARD | JUNE 27, 2013 AT 9:50 AM
Refuting Democratic suggestions that progressive groups were also swept up in the IRS probe of the tax status of Tea Party organizations, the Treasury Department's inspector general has revealed that just six progressive groups were targeted compared to 292 conservative groups.
In a letter to congressional Democrats, the inspector general also said that 100 percent of Tea Party groups seeking special tax status were put under IRS review, while only 30 percent of the progressive groups felt the same pressure.
The Wednesday letter to the top Democrat on the House Ways and Means Committee punched a huge hole in Democratic claims that progressive groups were targeted as much as the Tea Party groups from May 2010-May 2012, the height of the Tea Party movement.
The letter from the Treasury Department Inspector General for Tax Administration revealed that there just weren't many progressive groups who even sought special tax exempt status. A total of 20 sought it, and six were probed. All 292 Tea Party groups, meanwhile, were part of the IRS witchhunt. http://washingtonexaminer.com/.....oups/article/2532456

Washington (CNN) -- The Internal Revenue Service targeted liberal groups as well as conservatives seeking tax-exempt status, a Democratic congressman charged on Monday after the agency acknowledged the inappropriate practice continued until last month. Rep. Sander Levin said the term "progressives" was included on IRS screening lists of applicants for tax-exempt status made available to Congress on Monday. It was the first confirmation that the "Be on the Lookout" or BOLO lists used criteria targeting liberal groups after an inspector general's report made public last month said the IRS had used words such as "tea party" to determine possible extra scrutiny.

WASHINGTON (AP) — The Internal Revenue Service's screening of groups seeking tax-exempt status was broader and lasted longer than has been previously disclosed, the new head of the agency acknowledged Monday. Terms including "Israel," ''Progressive" and "Occupy" were used by agency workers to help pick groups for closer examination, according to an internal IRS document obtained by The Associated Press.

The Internal Revenue Service, under pressure after admitting it targeted anti-tax Tea Party groups for scrutiny in recent years, also had its eye on at least three Democratic-leaning organizations seeking nonprofit status. One of those groups, Emerge America, saw its tax-exempt status denied, forcing it to disclose its donors and pay some taxes. None of the Republican groups have said their applications were rejected. Progress Texas, another of the organizations, faced the same lines of questioning as the Tea Party groups from the same IRS office that issued letters to the Republican-friendly applicants. A third group, Clean Elections Texas, which supports public funding of campaigns, also received IRS inquiries.

Watchdog knocks down Dem claim that liberal groups were targeted by IRS Published June 27, 2013 FoxNews.com
May 21, 2013: J. Russell George, Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration, testifies on Capitol Hill. (AP)
The government watchdog that exposed IRS targeting of conservative groups gave a blunt response to Democrats' claims that the agency also targeted liberals: It never happened.
"We found no indication in any of these other materials that 'Progressives' was a term used to refer cases for scrutiny for political campaign intervention," IRS Inspector General J. Russell George wrote in a letter to Democrats.
Democrats have since turned on the IG's office, claiming it is only telling half the story.
But Republicans used the letter, and a House hearing on Thursday, to counter that narrative -- getting the current IRS chief to confirm that, in fact, there's no evidence to date that progressives were targeted.
"So far, the evidence only shows conservatives being systematically targeted by the IRS," Rep. Dave Camp, R-Mich., said.
Camp pressed the issue as he questioned newly appointed IRS boss Danny Werfel. Citing the IG letter, he asked whether Werfel's own internal report contradicted the claim.
"No," Werfel said, while adding "more investigation" is needed.

Look how stupid you are, posting articles that have already been debunked
If this was the IRS purposely targeting progressive leftist groups you would either A) Grab your tent and go 'Occupy' D.C. with all the drugged out, hippie rapists or B) go put on a SEIU purple shirt and find reporters who question you to try and beat up or maybe find a tent with old people and kids in it to knock over.

"GOP Lawmakers Say IRS Scrutiny Likely Not Politically Motivated"
Quoted Text
A pair of Republican lawmakers told The New York Times in a story published Thursday that the Internal Revenue Service scandal that rocked the agency may not have been politically motivated as previously thought.
The Times detailed how the agency's scrutiny of organizations that applied for tax-exempt status was more complicated than it originally seemed, building on previous reports showing that the IRS didn't just single out conservative and tea party groups.
The modern conservative is engaged in one of man's oldest exercises in moral philosophy; that is, the search for a superior moral justification for selfishness. John Kenneth Galbraith
Lets not forget, establishment republicans probably had more to gain suppressing the "tea party" organizations than democrats. The oligarchy is a small club, no room for outsiders.
You do know the IRS admitted to targeting these groups because of their politics and even apologized for it right.
"In the beginning of a change, the Patriot is a scarce man, brave, hated and scorned. When his cause succeeds, however, the timid join him, for then it costs nothing to be a Patriot."
You do know the IRS admitted to targeting these groups because of their politics and even apologized for it right.
Did they admit targeting Occupy groups? Did they admit to targeting Progressive groups? Did they admit to targeting Palestinian-rights group?
Of course they targeted likely tax evading groups... that's their job!
Were conservative groups singled out for special treatment based on their politics, or did the I.R.S. equally target liberal groups? But a closer look at the I.R.S. operation suggests that the problem was less about ideology and more about how a process instructing reviewers to “be on the lookout” for selected terms was applied to any group that mentioned certain words in its application.
Organizations approached by The New York Times based on specific “lookout list” warnings, like advocates for people in “occupied territories” and “open source software developers,” told similar stories of long waits, intrusive inquiries and bureaucratic hassles that pointed to no particular bias but rather to a process that became too rigid and too broad. The lists often did point to legitimate issues: partisan political campaign organizations seeking tax-exempt status, or commercial businesses hoping to cloak themselves as nonprofit groups. But even I.R.S. officials say lookout list warnings were often pursued in a ham-handed or overly rigid way. http://www.nytimes.com/2013/07.....tml?hp&_r=3&
If you had a non political group named "Rotterdam's Afternoon Tea Party", whose aim was to promote tea drinking, you'd likely be targeted. Just as if your name was Occupy Downtown... a group to promote retail space in Downtown Schdy.
Dumb? yea. Political motivated scandal? NOPE!
