Tasers don't always work and they sometimes miss or the probe strikes a button and fails to imbed. If someone was in danger from the knife, then a Taser might not have stopped the attack.

Cicero - If you read as much as you posted you would know that this case will be investigated by the DA's office. .
I did read it. I was critiquing the journalist. He led the article with "authorities confirm" and the end of the article mentions the investigation by the DA. Honest journalism would have said "authorities alledged" not confirmed.
Read today's Gazette about the Police man, Sgt. Darryl Mallard, in this shooting.
Quoted Text
As a rookie, Mallard was commended for showing restraint for coaxing an armed man intent on being shot into relinquishing his weapon. With just 11 weeks on the force, Mallard was confronted with a gun while pursuing James Hamilton, then a 39-year-old State Street man who had robbed cash from a drawer at the YWCA on Washington Avenue. As Mallard rounded the corner at Ferry Street and Liberty Street, he encountered Hamilton with the loaded handgun pointed at him. Mallard had his weapon unholstered when he rounded the corner, but used restraint when he encountered the man who police later realized was trying to get officers to shoot him --a phenomenon some law enforcement agents refer to as ‘suicide by cop.’ "By all accounts, he had the right to draw his weapon and fire his weapon to end the threat."

The cop suckers regurgitate the "authorities" account of the incident as gospel. Go figure. The new due process, the authorities investigation of themselves. That is how facts are now determined. Dead men tell no tales. Authorities tell no lies.
Cic hates it when the facts don't match his Cop Hating agenda!

I don't hate cops. I just think that there are other ways these incidents could have ended, but they keep occurring, and having no one question it will not lead to any reduction in what has become a Schenectady trend. As I've said before, it was a multiple unit dwelling and this time no one else was hurt but bullets do go through walls.

Madam X. I didn't include you in the Cop Hating Group, and I agree that there is an added danger when shooting in multiple unit dwellings. The problem with these incidents is that there is very little time to think about the proper actions to take and it's easy to second guess once the incident is over. If the officer didn't shoot, the assailant may have used his knife and killed the victim. In many of these cases, the officer on the scene has to make a judgement call and often he only has what facts that present themselves at the scene. A very difficult scenario.

From what I read, they could've just tased the guy straight off. They said they told him to stop, he stabbed the victim again, and then lunged at the cops. In the other two shabbings there was no other victim and the cops shot when lunged at. They got tasers after that, but cops by and large use taserswilly-nilly once they get them, so why not use them for their intended purpose? Of course Bennett will say they couldn't have done things differently. He cannot speculate otherwise. However, that does not mean they shouldn't be training our police better and it does not look to me as if that is happening.

Hahaha! Facts! The "official" version of what happened given by the authorities are box's FACTS. No need to question any further. Another person dead at the hands of cops.
If the mundane that was stabbed by the lunging knife attacker had shot him in self defense before being stabbed, he would be detained until they could charge him with a crime. The authorities wouldn't be so quick to confirm a justifiable homicide.

Wouldn't it have been nice if the stabbing victim had a pistol and could have shot the knife attacker? I'm sure you support the mundane taking the same actions the police took to protect themselves from the attack. Isn't that right box?
This is proof that hand guns protect people from violent attackers. Box, start a campaign to ease the state's restrictive hand gun permits so innocent victims can protect themselves from violent attacker.

Where Would Cissy Be Without His STRAWMAN?
~As a strong supporter of the 2nd amendment, I think that citizens should be able to purchase a gun to protect themselves. ~ (But Cicero Already Knew That)
What's funny is Cicero's lame proposal to weaken NY gun laws... which would aid in arming the criminals!

what did the kid at rollarrama have as a weapon???? what was the dangerous, threatening weapon he had that caused the cops to use a taser on him?

shooting them is cheaper than a trial and jail time....not to mention a 'forever silent' victim!
but wth....this is what our poor young american solders were told to do during WWII.....DON'T TAKE PRISONERS, KILL THEM......and they did!!!

WOW, where was this written? A direct order to kill and take no prisoners? REALLY!!! How about a link to support this? With everything I've read about history and specifically about WWII, I cannot recall ever hearing that this command was ever given, or accusations of it being made!
JUST BECAUSE SISSY SAYS SO DOESN'T MAKE IT SO...BUT HE THINKS IT DOES!!!!! JUST BECAUSE MC1 SAYS SO DOESN'T MAKE IT SO!!!!!

Bumbler's accuracy rate is still hovering at about 1%
At the end of WW2, there were 425,000 prisoners of war (mostly German) throughout the USA. Eventually, every state (with the exceptions of Nevada, North Dakota, and Vermont) had POW camps.
If as Bumbler says, US Troops were ordered not to take prisoners and to "kill them"... there must have been a whole lot of US troops court martialed for disobeying orders
