Was driving through ROTTENdam and saw all of these 'victory church' signs. so we decided to check it out on the web and this is what we found......looks like the church is going to reach out to Hamilton Hill....yes?

I don't much care for this brand of religion as it seems like wallowing in some sort of perceived victimhood and throwing it in other people's faces. It makes some people feel good, though.
Optimists close their eyes and pretend problems are non existent. Better to have open eyes, see the truths, acknowledge the negatives, and speak up for the people rather than the politicos and their rich cronies.

Surprisingly, bumble, there are churches that concentrate more on one's personal morality, and go about doing good works for the more truly needy in a low key way. Remember that local eye doctor who got killed in Afghanistan? He was over there giving vision care to children who don't have any doctors. We would never have heard of him except that he was there under church auspices which enraged some locals.
This whole "stamp out hunger" thing really ticks me off, it is like those campaigns against hate like you are going to wipe out an emotion or eliminate a naturally occurring biological condition which happens to everybody. Everybody's kids get hungry. Feed your kids your lazy self! I saw footage on one of the news programs of one of these "feeding stations" and a poor little boy was pounding down cartons of milk as if he was afraid someone was goingto cut him off. Disgraceful. I'm not against giving milk to little kids, I'm against parents dumping their kids in the park or wherever to get the food they should be able to get out of their refrigerators at home.

i'm not talking about legislating 'good parenting'....can't be done....either you are or you're not! As long as the churches or any organization that are operating on 'volunteers' and'donations' and NOT government monies.....i see no problem with them helping those in need as they see fit. imho

I see your point bt, but I feel like some of these organizations create need and keep it going where real help would be aimed at alleviating a problem. Churches are no exception.

agree BUT.....lets use schenectady as an example....when a municipality has no jobs, a lucrative welfare package, is crime ridden, has a substandard school system, drug dealers/addicts in every neighborhood, highest taxes in the state, blight everywhere and we can add social and moral decline.........the churches didn't 'create' that......churches can't alleviate the problem....they can only pick up the collateral damage, society 'created'.
