Renaissance Update! The NYS Commission on Quality of Care for People with Disabilities is fleeing Downtown Schenectady relocating 120 good paying jobs to Delmar. This is at the former Woolworth's back when you could actually buy something Downtown. First the stores fled. Then the professional offices. Then the churches. Ones that aren't being foreclosed. Now even State agencies can't get out fast enough.

What a month for Death Ray on the heels of Rudnick's the last store Downtown shuttering. Let's see how the usual liars spin another devastating slap in the face. Apparently their business model was outdated.
People warned Death Ray to keep retail on the first floor. But then again maybe a governmental gin mill? Remember to subtract these jobs from the DEM imaginary list. The DEM implosion continues at warp
speed. Had enough YET?

.

in 7 short years the Democrats the Democrats have DROPPED TAX RATES TO THE LOWEST POINT SINCE THE 1950's and  the entire county is in an economic Renaissance -- including Downtown.

THOSE ARE THE FACTS --- and no amount of screeching and insults … can diminish the RECORD OF POSITIVE ACCOMPLISHMENTS BROUGHT BY  DEMOCRATIC LEADERSHIP.

Really?    You STILL have NOT provided ONE TEENY WEENY SHRED OF PROOF about county taxes!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Renaissance?       Mr James Hairstylist -  downtown business for MANY MANY DECADES,  a TAXPAYING business. - CLOSES UNDER  DEM LEADERSHIP!

Renaissance?       Rudnicks - downtown business for MANY MANY DECADES, a TAXPAYING business - CLOSES UNDER DEM LEADERSHIP!

A billionaire hairstylist opens under dem leadership, does NOT pay taxes, causing the tax base to plummet

A worldwide billion $ hotel chain opens a hotel downtown under dem leadership, does NOT pay taxes, and causes the tax base to plummet even more.

A theater chain opens at taxpayer expense under dem leadership, does NOT pay taxes, and causes the tax base to plummet even more.   Not to mention that the theater is NOT full of movie goers, and other than "The Place..." I DEFY ANYONE to show us DATED photos inside showing the theater more than 50% full!

An EXTREMELY LAVISH EXTRAVAGANT bancquet hall opens at taxpayer expense, charges more money than any other place for weddings, etc, makes BIG PROFIT, and does NOT pay taxes, thus causing the tax base in the city to plummet even more!

Assorted other buildings fixed up at taxpayer expense, owners do NOT pay property taxes, and the city's tax base drops even more.   Apartments aren't even rented!

BILLIONAIRE developer Galesi, crony to the city/co/plex dems, pay them off to get 100 permament exemptions from ever paying taxes and the city's tax base plummets even more.

Meanwhile, home values dropping, infrastructure crumbling, people can't sell their houses, no one buying houses in the city, and taxes ON THE HOMEOWNERS are going up up up.

With only replacing two words with one word, in the words of the board's DV cheerleader:

THESE ARE THE FACTS --- and no amount of screeching and insults … can diminish the RECORD OF FAILURES BROUGHT TO THE COUNTY BY  DEMOCRATIC LEADERSHIP.

The troll dem cheerleader isn't even cheering much anymore on Schenectady issues, obviously he agrees that we were right all along.

Optimists close their eyes and pretend problems are non existent.
Better to have open eyes, see the truths, acknowledge the negatives, and
speak up for the people rather than the politicos and their rich cronies.

Just like at Robinson Square aka Gillen's Ditch or Olenders? Another governmental gin mill? ROTFLMAO! This was heralded as the start of "Renaissance". No one wants to commute from Albany County to Downtown Dump. Gov Pataki sent State workers to fill in the vast emptiness. Gov Cuomo takes Schenectady County for granted and understands that no one want s to go there. Of course these jobs were brought in while
Manning ran Metrograft. Although the corrupt DEM machine always added them to there imaginary count.

With DEM BS artists McCheese, Karen Johnson and Death Ray how come Schenectady County still has the highest unemployment rate in the Capital District? End Metrograft NOW! Use the sales tax money solely for property tax relief.

Death Ray will say :we were looking for more retail-style and private sector work force DT, so this is a win-win for everybody"

"While Foreign Terrorists were plotting to murder and maim using homemade bombs in Boston, Democrap officials in Washington DC, Albany and here were busy watching ME and other law abiding American Citizens who are gun owners and taxpayers, in an effort to blame the nation's lack of security on US so that they could have a political scapegoat."

Perhaps another bar/restaurant with the name Malozzi or Galesi attached?

To include a workforce of 20 part-time employees without benefits?

We'll need a soup kitchen soon when the tax bills come due.....

I don't understand why these democrats who put politics ahead of everything are so unpopular with the Governor. He probably hates Schenectady because when he brags about how great New York is because of him we have the nerve to not be great here.

I have been thinking about this subject because it didn't add up, all these Democrats and Cuomo still kicking Schenectady in the teeth... *WARNING*
SPECULATION* (sorry about that, I couldn't resist).

Remember how McCheese was photographed putting that damned Jeep up for sale when he first took office? Who was that a slap at? And who is so tight with the Governor that he received a nice do-nothing patronage position even though he was caught red-handed illegally padding a pension for a crony, something the governor had said was a no-no when he was AG? Hint: like the guv, he also got where he is in life solely because of who his daddy was.
Payback is a b!tch.

Wonder how much Metroplex $$$ went into this project to now have it leave.

I'll check on it.

What's in the DOT building right now? We were told that Worker's Comp was moving in there, weren't we? Whenever I've been down there it looks empty. Does anyone know whether there is talk of something replacing the Quality of Care place? Personally, I would like to see some sort of store for everyday items. CVS does okay down there. With fewer workers though, who knows what could stay in business.

"401 State Street to Get New Façade

July 7, 2008, Schenectady, N.Y.,  - In another step forward in the revitalization of downtown Schenectady, Metroplex today announced that the façade at 401 State Street across from the Bow-Tie Cinema will be completely reconstructed.

"Fixing the façade at 401 State Street is the top priority for our façade program and we are very pleased that this key building downtown will receive a new look," said Ray Gillen, Metroplex Chair.

401 State Street is owned by the Galesi Group and BBL Construction. The building is leased by the State of New York and serves as the headquarters for the NYS Commission on Quality Care.  The Commission also occupies the first floor at 409 State Street.  Over 100 state employees are based at the complex.

The new façade on a key corner in downtown will transform a fairly plain stucco exterior with a new façade that adds to the look and feel of the revitalized downtown. The Downtown Schenectady Improvement Corporation (DSIC), administrator of the downtown façade improvement program funded by Metroplex, will provide a $60,000 matching grant to the project.

Dave Buicko, COO of the Galesi Group said, "As a major investor in Schenectady County, we are pleased to partner with Metroplex and DSIC to create a new façade at 401 State Street that reflects the great history of Schenectady while adding to the City's bright new future."

The Galesi Group also owns and manages the Bow-Tie Cinema complex, MVP headquarters, Center City, 797 Broadway, College Park -- home to the new Golub Corporation headquarters, as well as major industrial parks in Rotterdam and Glenville.

"This building is on one of the most prominent corners of downtown Schenectady," said DSIC Executive Director Jim Salengo. "The DSIC is proud to assist the Galesi Group in improving this key façade in our downtown district."

Both the State Street and Broadway sides of the building will be renovated.

The Galesi Group has hired BBL Construction to complete the façade project.  The architect is Stracher, Roth and Gilmore based in Schenectady.  The total project cost will exceed $200,000.

For more information, see http://www.metroplex.org/, http://www.galesi.com/ and http://www.downtownschenectady.com/.

Well, here was the first $60K for the facade.

"Schenectady, N.Y., June 13, 2012 - The Metroplex Board of Directors met this evening and moved forward on a number of economic development projects in Schenectady County.

.......
The State Lottery, the NYS Racing and Wagering Board and Commission on Quality of Care and Advocacy for Persons with Disabilities are already located in downtown Schenectady.

......
On downtown development, the Board approved issuing bids and authorized spending up to $152,000 to build new sidewalks, curbs and other improvements on North Broadway as well as make other improvements downtown.  Bid results will be reviewed at a future meeting."

For more information, see http://www.schenectadymetroplex.org

Good to know that the loss of over 100 employees Downtown won't be ruining the $152,000 worth of new sidewalks.

Can we just flush the rest of the Metroplex money down a toilet...it always winds up there anyway.

Even the Pataki era State employees are fleeing. What about lunchtime traffic-boo-hoo! Horrible Death Ray can't even keep the few State  jobs that Mr Manning brought in. As far as soup kitchen try the SICM
food pantry. Packed with masses unable to find Metrograft jobs. At this point we will take the popcorn jobs. Highest unemployment rates lowest resale values. Smells like renaissance.

Benny, let's just say that the only people getting ANY benefit from the Metroplex $$$$ has the name Galesi, Malozzi or some other DEM contributor attached.

The taxpayers lose. The City gains nothing and the money is lining pockets of the connected Tammany Hall participants. Boss Tweed = Gillen....
