Sounds great -- another sign of the Democrat-led RENAISSANCE in Schenectady.

How many more years of Metroplex development can the city withstand? The walls are crumbling.

When the average house price is about 40 grand we will start to see the bottom, which will be good news

"While Foreign Terrorists were plotting to murder and maim using homemade bombs in Boston, Democrap officials in Washington DC, Albany and here were busy watching ME and other law abiding American Citizens who are gun owners and taxpayers, in an effort to blame the nation's lack of security on US so that they could have a political scapegoat."

Seeing the bottom is what has to happen for a recovery after a 'bubble', it is not necessarily a bad thing, but in Schenectady there are factors complicating this happening, such as taxes being based on assessments done during the bubble, and they weren't even right then.
McCheese is so damned determined to justify the taxes, to keep all this crap floating, that he is blocking any recovery from happening. Nobody has his back, not even the Democrats.
There are probably a hundred or so unsold houses skewing the housing value numbers also. If a house has been for sale for years, through changes of realty, the house is not worth anything written on a piece of paper someplace.

You know, I've been giving the city government more credit than they deserve all this time, because I've been laboring under the delusion that a portion of Schenectady's problems were due to the bad management of the school district, and that they didn't control that. It just recently dawned on me that yes, they did, because it was imbecilic social engineers who wrecked the schools and it was a big democrat who led the charge. What was I thinking?
Anyhow, if anyone is seriously trying to trick, I mean entice, someone into buying a house in the city, it would be better not to let them see Mr. Spring, or at least don't let him speak.

It is the public benefits and retirement packages that will continue to hold Schenectady and other municipalities down.  We can not continue to allow the Unions to dictate there pay and benefits.  It is crushing us.  I cant wait to see the 2012 City Financials.  Once we take out the one time items such as the Prior year taxes being brought in the true financial mess will be clear.

The only cities that can afford to allow workers to live outside are the wealthy ones such as Southampton and it just does not work in places like Schenectady where the employees make more money than the average resident. To those who say it should not matter where someone lives, you are wrong,it does matter, it cannot continue.
Schenectady cannot even manage to take cars away from non-residents.

Based on the title of the thread - it must be that the he/she monkey is announcing that his/her mental illness has gotten even worse.

You know what will help the price of real estate stabilize in Schenectady? Have the Mayor be seen publicly, desperately trying to promote Schenectady, whilst at the same time, one of his employees becomes so enraged at a nervy member of the public doing at or near the posted speed limit, blocking the employee's high speed exit to his home in GLENVILLE, that said employee pulls a weapon. That should do the trick. People will line up for a chance to pay high taxes to support that. Sure they will.

Yes it is a movi but you  mikechristeen and many others came in at intermission wich you all mistook for the begining.
If you go look at 153 clinton street you will find asphalt. This is where my grandfathers barbershop used to be. We gave away his house on schenectady st fifteen years ago.
My father and uncles, grandmothers cousins all began leaving schenectady IN THE FIFTIES.

Were any of you born here? At some point you left, and then came back? Or you moved here/inhereted your family house or whatever. You have all made some very bad decisions.  Acording to my uncles this town was dead 60 years ago.30 years ago it was on a greased slide downward.didnt anyone get the memo? You see madamx you came in in the middle of the movie.

People seem to have no oother choice than to blamepolitical phiosophies  or some guy in a suit, instead of getting out. This is a town made for old people.

Many historians recognise  the european renisanince  was a ' setting sun' . This town  is not meant for young abitious people
Is your environment really a product of your decisions? if so pray for wisdom, because if you think like salami and gb" wait until one of my boys  start unning things" you are listening to false prophets.

thirty years ago. ? Do you really think that was a long time ago?  Did we give our house to one of you?when i see vacant lots and boearded up houses I get happy because i know there are people living a decent life somewhare else.

Actually I and many others had a very good quality of life growing up here in Schenectady. My family has been here since the Stockade's been here. You see, old and shabby doesn't frighten me, I'm not upset by people who are 'different' or perhaps low income or work with their hands. I'm not a snob or a showoff. So even though people have been condescending or critical or incredulous over the fact that I lived here, my response was always, "what is so much better about where you live?"
The problems here were no different than any number of older cities with dwindling jobs. Those I could deal with. Schenectady's biggest problems were caused by government. New York politicians used this and other cities for a landfill to solve their own problems, then you have the not-for-profit racket

Of course DV, actually YOU are the one who has a MAJOR MENTAL problem.  The TRUTH is, and ALL THE EVIDENCE is proving that Schenectady is still and has been on a MAJOR decline since YOUR dem buddies took over the downtown stuff.

Now, DV, would you care to engage in intelligent conversation about the facts presented in this thread?    Or are you too much of a chicken to discuss THE TRUTH of yet another MAJOR DROP in home values---that are supported by the OFFICIAL numbers of home sales and prices as reported by the realtors group obtained from OFFICIAL GOVERNMENT records (deeds, in case you didn't know, I deed not only indicates the ownership of a house but also the sales price), and the OFFICIAL GOVERNMENT records shown above (of course, you don't know what LOA or RAR is anyway).

Well?      What's the matter?   Cat got your tongue?    Or have you put your foot in your mouth too many times with your proclamations of the city doing so well?

You can't engage in INTELLIGENT conversation and speak about the EVIDENCE?    Huh??????

Sombody, you do not even understand I thing I said. Nobody says there wasn't deterioration 30 years ago. Do not criticize those who may wish to standour ground rather than become nomads who keep moving to some greener pasture until the same things happen there. Should everyone in say, Guilderland, start knocking the place and then move away because there were fights at Crossgates? All older cities have problems! Right now, the world is having problems! If we don't learn to recognize and deal with the factors that exacerbate these naturally occurring problems, there won't be any more greener pastures! Seriously. That kind of dopey thinking helped fuel the housing crisis. "Oh, if I just move to a giant $300,000 house in a Las Vegas suburb, my life will be wonderful!"
BTW, anyone remember the signs, "Colonie is Corrupt" a few years back? That's what I'm talking about. It isn't the real estate that is tainted.
