When the INSANE are running the ASYLUM In individuals, insanity is rare; but in groups, parties, nations and epochs, it is the rule. -- Friedrich Nietzsche
“How fortunate for those in power that people never think.” Adolph Hitler
I'll pay higher prices just to support a business that pays a decent wage/benefits before i'll EVER go to a walmart!!!!
There are few things that Bumble and I agree on, but this is one of them.

Well its nice you 2 can afford to pay more but reality is many can not afford that luxury. I wish I could afford to spend $50 for a pair of GAP Khakis but my budget doesn't allow that option, so instead I buy Walmart khakis for about $18.
"In the beginning of a change, the Patriot is a scarce man, brave, hated and scorned. When his cause succeeds, however, the timid join him, for then it costs nothing to be a Patriot."
Then that means they were over priced and couldn't compete, lower prices helps out everyone especially the lower class. What you guys are saying is the free market shouldn't be allowed to work and people should be forced to pay higher prices If you guys wish to pay higher prices for the same product go for it but don't try to eliminate competition for those who need the lowest price possible to survive.
The only reason that Walmart can beat them, is because I'm subsidising Walmart by paying for their employees to survive. I have a choice of whether I shop somewhere or not, but I don't have a choice of paying taxes or not. That's not free market capitalism.
By raising their prices across the board by a lousy ONE PERCENT, they could pay their employees a living wage. People would be less desperate for lower prices if they recieved paychecks that were at least worth the paper they're printed on.
Ditto!! walmart ruined rottedam. and as a side note.....this will be the final nail in price chopper's coffin....
This is more about payback to Target for coming to Glenville. Nationally big box grocery stores are down 15% with more people shopping local at coops and farmers markets/stands. Another example of DEM planning? Maybe if they hired an actual town planner.....

So your argument isn't with walmart it is with minimum wage?

It will bring some bargain hunters that are driving over the bridge to the other Walmart. May also close the empty Hannaford in Nisky that has been walloped by Shop Rite. Smaller slices from the same shrinking pie.

They currently pay minimum wage (which they lobbied against) but they need to pay ABOVE minimum wage for their workers to be above the poverty level. They clearly have the means to do so without harming themselves, but they are truly driven by greed.
An example of Walmart policy... Coleman sells a inflatable queen size mattress through Walmart. Coleman recommends a pump to inflate that particular mattress. In order to sell their product at Walmart, they were forced to bundle a inferior pump to accompany their mattress. The pump is for a different model, much smaller mattress and the nozzle for the two pumps are not interchangeable.
A person that I know bought the mattress and matching pump and found that they are incompatible. They called Walmart who said that that was the pump offered by Coleman. They then called Coleman who said to return the incompatible pump and they would send them the correct pump for that mattress. They said that Walmart would only sell their product if they offered it with the 'lower price' pump. Walmart... Always crap... alway.

So when was Walmart ever considered a career choice, we have minimum wage for a reason and that is because some jobs only deserve minimum wage. Walmarts job is to keep the customers happy by offering them decent products at a cheap rate, if Walmart has to raise its prices get what, someone else will just step in and underprice Walmart and put them out of business. That is how the market works, if you don't like paying taxes for welfare then vote for someone who will change the policies.

This just in: Most Walmart workers are not working their way through med school. That IS their career. Nobody is going to step into Walmart's shoes if they raise prices by one percent, because NOBODY has Walmart's volume buying power.
When my kids were younger took them to either Walmart or Kmart school shopping. Sometimes there is no other "option" especially when you are shopping for more than one child and then get school supplies etc.
Even though we were a working family couldn't afford the higher price stores.
Would always look for the bargains though sometimes Sears had some good sales.
I comparison shop, when my old computer died I waited and looked and looked and got a great price at Staples.
