Attorney: Use Anti-Anxiety Meds, Lose Pistol Permit

Buffalo, NY (WBEN) If you use anti-anxiety medication, should you forfeit your pistol permit? One attorney says that's exactly what's happened in two cases here.

"We are representing a client right now who is impacted by this onerous activity of the government," says Jim Tresmond of the Tresmond Law Firm. He's unaware of how many else may be affected because the matter is so new, with operatives across the country monitoring the state.

Tresmond is representing two clients now, but anticipates more down the road. "We were flummoxed by this whole matter," explains Tresmond. "The HIPPA act is supposed to prevent this kind of thing from happening. It's a gross invasion of our privacy rights." Who's responsible for this? "The State Police. Based on information the county received from the New York State Police, they've suspended the permits. The State Police instigates the proceedings."
Tresmond says the State Police commissioner is named in the two lawsuits.

well we knew this was going to happen.
but let's go one step further....should a gun be allowed in a household where one of the family members are on anti anxiety meds?

eg: husband owns a gun and wife is on government issued anti anxiety meds.
eg: husband and wife own a gun and the kid is on government issued anti anxiety meds.
eg: should anyone on government issued anti anxiety drugs be allowed to enter a home where guns are legally owned?

just sayin

About time!!!

All New York residents on anti anxiety or anti depressant drugs should have to register on a government data base that local law enforcement can access.

Their right to privacy doesn't trump my right to safety.

What if you are a gun owner and a friend or relative on anti anxiety drugs comes into your home?  Maybe people should carry ID cards that verify that they are not on these drugs.  For the safety of the school children.

Never mind that ant-anxiety medications are prescribed for a variety of uses, either. They have some value for pain relief with certain kinds of conditions.
Maybe you should just have to have a talk about the reasons why you take what you take with some dumb, uneducated bureaucratic flunkie on a power trip so you can exercise the same rights that other people do.

People who might benefit greatly from some medications will be deterred because it might become a problem later, if someone in government should decide it makes them dangerous. Under Obamacare, anyone in government will be able to nose around in your most personal business and use it against you.

1. Many cops and former Veterans take anti-anxiety meds.
2. I would rather that cops took their meds instead of not taking them, just to keep their pistol licenses.

Aren't the untreated mentally ill more dangerous than someone trying to overcome their problems?
Maybe these individuals should use the time-honored method of dealing with stress, and just become alcoholics. No one will take your gun away, or yourcar, either.

It's an anti-anxiety med, a sedative, a liver function reducer, intelligence reducer, boldness
enhancer and sometimes a jail-able offense.

JUST SAYIN???

Are you "JUST SAYIN" that "GOVERNMENT ISSUED" anxiety drugs are any different than the same
drugs bought with cash, or with health insurance?

If not... then what is the purpose of the term "GOVERNMENT ISSUED" in your post???

How are "GOVERNMENT ISSUED" drugs any different than other drugs in the person who's holding a
gun?

Or..
Are you "JUST SAYIN" that you hate people who are on "GOVERNMENT ISSUED" drugs?

Government issued drugs(I would call them government approved) are drug deemed "safe" by the FDA.  The people carrying out these mass shooting were high on drugs that were given the government stamp of approval.

I disagree.  If Bumbler wanted to say "GOVERNMENT APPROVED DRUGS" he would have used that
term.  The GOVT doesn't make the drugs, and the FDA approves ALL Legal Drugs, so the term
"GOVERNMENT ISSUED", as compared to Private Issued, would connect the drugs to people who
are "ISSUED" these drugs by the "GOVERNMENT.

Bumbler has used this term before... and his meaning then was people on Welfare or some kind
of Public Assistance... WHERE THEIR DRUGS WERE "GOVERNMENT ISSUED".

BTW... does Bumbler know that you are his spokesman???  Did he "APPROVE" that authorization???
