Seriously, ABANDON SHIP!
If you have any means to do so, whatsoever, leave now, and cut your losses.
http://www.dailygazette.com/news/2013/apr/02/0402_tow/
Quoted Text
The City Council plans to hold a public hearing in three weeks on whether to give the city a cut in all tows if a city official calls for the tow. The proposal would also let the tow companies charge more.
The towing fee would rise from $90 to $150, of which the city would get $40 if a worker made the call.
The impound fee would also rise, and the city would get a $10-a-day cut.
The council had planned for tow fees in its 2013 budget, counting on $50,000 in revenue. That’s 1,250 tows over the course of the next eight months.
The council also counted on $30,000 in impound fees.

Holy crap!
I had to manually, manipulate my jaw to the upright position, because it had dropped that far.
Just when I thought it couldn't get any worse, I realised that people are going to get towed, whether they need to, or not, because it's going to be the cop's (revenue raisers) new additional quota.

Maybe this just means they will start enforcing some of the parking rules that should have been enforced all along, now that there will be a money incentive. I doubt it, though. I think it will be just as you fear, predatory towing. Imagine someone bothering to visit Schenectady for dinner or something, and then finding her car towed? Perhaps downtown will be exempt, and they will just abuse the citizenry in our neighborhoods.

What's new? More phony revenue generation from the DEM crew. More false projections in the McCheese fictional budget. How's the sale of the 700 foreclosed properties going -ROTFLMAO!!
This will crush the poor City families that still support these DEM fiscal nit wits. Next they can get into used car sales. Cut the budget-close departments-end ALL nonprofit giveaways. The only department that shouldreceive more funding is Animal Control.

As if I needed anymore reasons NOT to enter the City of Schenectady.

You park on the street and risk coming back to see you car up on blocks, or you risk finding it in the government impound lot.

The double dipper Leeza, employee of the double dipping STAR King Philip, as well as the employee of the double dipping McCheese, had to be her idea, make it sound like she and her co-hort double dippers are raising revenue for the city by other than taxes.  That anticipated revenue figure is LESS THAN 25% of the taxpayer salary of King Philip--some will say "but that's county taxes" (his salary) and towing fees are city; well does it matter what pot gets it?  Whose pocket does it come out of?

The ONLY thing the dems know how to do, from Obama to Andy, to Judy, to McCheese and their dem legislators and their political cronies.

Tax and spend, tax and spend.

Any ANYONE who dares speak negatively about Obama while praising Judy, McCheese, Buffy, and other local cronies is just a LIAR.

Council members weren’t enthusiastic about the fees.

Councilwoman Leesa Perazzo noted that drivers would pay $40 less if they called for a tow — punishing them if they were unable to call.

“I’m pretty uncomfortable with the idea of getting into an accident and being physically harmed and having to call a towing company to avoid the fee,” she said.

Well, as McCheese and his BS predecessor have both proven, this won't raise money.   It's all talk.  The proof lies in the EVIDENCE, neither has EVER declared a snow emergency which is when the largest chunk of money would come in!!!!!!!!!

In the bowels of city hall there is a little known office called the dept. of ridiculous fees. Inhabited by dwarfs and cretins, it's sole purpose is to come up with any hair brained idea that may help to fill the city's coffers. Most ideas are doomed for failure, ie: the air you breathe fee, the fee you should pay for mowing your lawn, and my personal favorite, the fee for those who no longer have their own teeth. Those are the ones that never make it to committee for discussion. Alas some do and are bandied about, in the end those council people who may disagree initially are strong-armed into voting for such measures. So it is written, so it shall be done.

That's exactly what this is. Another false whopper brought to you by the McCheesy crew.

Waiting to get my Combos fish this past Friday and two cars were parked on Crane street right in front of driveways. Too bad no one patrols that area...could have has a few cars towed.

Schenectady can get much much lower.  These revenue generating schemes are just the death rattles.  The state and country as a whole have a spending problem and like Stockton CA, NY is leading the list of unfunded in the Public retirement benefits.  We havent seen anything yet as far as taxes.

They will always find new bottom depths to plumb. They will sink lower and lower.

"While Foreign Terrorists were plotting to murder and maim using homemade bombs in Boston, Democrap officials in Washington DC, Albany and here were busy watching ME and other law abiding American Citizens who are gun owners and taxpayers, in an effort to blame the nation's lack of security on US so that they could have a political scapegoat."

It's not lack of revenue-it's the total inability to budget or say no to any half baked idea. Leeser is a total joke. Another stooge for Proctor's in the Karen Johnson mode. Here's the worst part. She is planning to
run for Mayor after McCheese. If a State Control Board hasn't taken other from these fiscal nit wits. Unless the REPS or Alliance get off the canvass she will win.
