Forgot to provide this.

Wow, obviously the taxpayer dollars for McCheesy's monthly grand bus tour are drying up, only 5 houses in February.  But here they are; an again, the ones in green are are making repeat appearances because McCheesy has been UNSUCCESSFUL in selling houses.

A circus distraction from fiscal collapse. If the taxpayers knew what was really going on they would storm City Hall. A bankrupt City heading for bankruptcy judges "led" by totally unqualified DEM hacks. Assessor that refuses to live in the City. Honest finance expert decamped in Glenville. Surprised no one wants to pay $9,000 a year for City residency -lol.

What was the figure of home sales before McCheesy came into office...over 310...now we're down to 200 something??? Even WITH these asinine open houses, free stuff and grand standing the DEMS can't GIVE the homes away.

You're right Benny, it's a complete distraction as to the decimated fiscal imposion the City is in. $9,000 in taxes...add another $2,000 ontop of your mortgage payments??? Who's kidding who.

The owners of these homes are being foolish as well. Houses comparable to the Garner Avenue one, in Niskayuna, dropped the asking prices to under $300,000 because the 'bubble' is history and there were no takers at the higher prices. So why would you list a house to begin with at a Niskayuna price, when it is on a street of nice but modest middle class houses, in Schenectady? The taxes for that house, because it is Schenectady and not Niskayuna, are not only higher, but WAY higher. People don't seem to realize this.
McCheese and some bankers and realtors cannot change the real estate market to work the way they want it to. We all saw what happened when this went on, on a larger scale, worldwide. Didn't last because it couldn't last.
I suppose I can't blame some of these people, though, if you can get some chump to market your house for you free, why not stave off reality for a while?

Ah, that house on Oakland Ave, that was actually put up for sale on 1/29/10, asking $219,500.

Of course, the evidence shows that that virtually no one is willing to buy a house in Schenectady (sad but true), this house on Oakland, the asking price had been reduced by $20,000 by September 2010, and since there was no one willing to buy, it was removed from the market.

So it was listed again in October 2012, asking $199,900.  And six months later (far more than is than is normal for selling a house), still no one wants to buy it, and it's now down to $$193,000.

But how much does McCheesy insist the house will sell for?    $217,000.    The mayor has an obligation to the homeowners in the city to state why he refuses to reduce the assessments as there is more than enough evidence that proves 1,000% that home values are DRASTICALLY LOWER.

Oh, by the way, the owner of this house hopefully lost his illegal STAR exemption too.   It's owned by Ely, the former school super.

I just checked the house on Glennwood Blvd.

$8,559 in taxes?
That's $713 a month!
Are they kidding? To live THERE?

My taxes in Niskayuna on a comparable sized house, though newer, and in a better neighborhood, is less than 1/4 of that.
It's paid off now, but my MORTGAGE wasn't $713, and the house is appraised at $165,000.

Another one....1131 Adams Road in the GE Plot.  Assessed by the city at $276,200.  Currently on the market with Prudential Manor Homes for $182,000.  A mass reassessmnt is need but this time they need someone to do it right.

I was looking at a couple of houses in Niskayuna, for comparison purposes. They are almost next door to one another. 2345 St. Joseph Drive, $240,000, taxes almost 7,000 according to Coldwell Banker. 2162 Orchard Park Drive, they were asking 249,900, just sold, taxes eight and a half thousand. Even Niskayuna dropped in price. Our esteemed mayor is trying to get foolish people to pay prices somewhere near the ridiculous assessments, or even over. Everybody needs a reval, not just Schenectady, but Schenectady's assessment wasn't even done right the last time. Everything here is so out of whack it is criminal. I really don't know how this can continue. What a farce. Completely indefensible. Highway robbery.

2162 Orchard Park Dr has an assessment of $305,000

Yes, taxes are $8,415.43, but that is with a $30,000 Star exemption and a $36,000 Vet exemption.

The over assessed value outweighs both the exemptions.

The home is taxed at $275,000 for school taxes and $269,000 for county.

The over assessments should be grounds for a citywide lawsuit, for systematic embezzlement.

Yes, property owners need to explore legal avenues together, instead of individually, I think.
