Yep, tens of millions of taxpayer dollars on downtown and crime is on the rise, home values plummet, taxes go up, and some people keep cheering to ignore the neighborhoods and the city's residents.


How about this, if you get a property tax exemption on your downtown properties, you are required to live in the city and none of this "oh, I'll sleep in the hotel during the week."

SCHENECTADY - Police are investigating a stabbing of a taxi cab driver that occurred in the area of Eastern Ave and Nott Terrace.

Police say the victim called 9-1-1, and reported that he had been stabbed.  The victim was located a short time later near the Schenectady County Library, located at the corner of Liberty and Clinton.

He was airlifted to Albany Medical Center. The extent of the victim’s injuries is not known at this time. Authorities say the victim operated a cab for Glove City Taxis.

Police say the suspect is still at large and is described as a black female, last seen wearing dark clothing.

Although the police station is next door, the stabbing victim was treated inside the main branch of the Library, and the Library was cleared of all patrons and closed two hours early because of the activity. Crime tape was stretched to block both entry doors of the Library. I hope the Gazette will find out how the incident unfolded and why the Library became so involved in the incident.

5 blocks from the hospital and they bring in a chopper?

The damage must have been a lot.

Where the hell did they land the chopper, the old Ramada Inn Parking lot.

He got stabbed at Eastern and Nott and walked down the street to the library.

The blood trail went from the Library to Denny's.

Was he afraid to go into the Police Station?

He walked right past it. Plus, why not drive the cab?

No, it is not that bad of a hospital but it is not a trauma center. There are only like 30 trauma centers in the entire state. It would make no sense for Ellis to become one when Albany Med is so close.

Well except for the helicopter trip which is around $20,000.

SCHENECTADY, N.Y. -- Police have identified the cab driver stabbed Thursday night in Schenectady. Police say Derek Leach, 28, had just taken someone from Johnstown to Schenectady when he was stabbed by a woman.

It's unknown if the person Leach had just transported was the same person who stabbed him.

After being stabbed, Leach walked down Liberty Street toward the library seeking help. He was soon air-lifted to Albany Medical Center, where he was listed in critical condition.

His cab was found two blocks away from library.

Police are still looking for the suspect.

How do you stab a driver through a mandatory plexi-glass wall?

The perp has a hospital gown on in the picture. She'll probably plead insanity  

She could have rode up front in the taxi, hence no divider.

Wonder if the cab driver knew her?
