Don't you love it?   Taxpayers paid for the theater, the overburdened city homeowners who pay about the highest taxes in the country are paying the property and school taxes of the Bow Tie downtown.

And the Bow Tie is doing what?   Taking the money and using it elsewhere.

Can you blame them? They have a bunch of saps here. The DEMS love slamming taxpayers with fat cats taxes. Proctor's, Bow Tie and horrible Bomber's at on the top of the dead beat list. Pay your fair share.

Is that going to be DV's next "grand announcement from the renaissance city as the city moves forward getting better by the day"  ????
The "nayboobs" have so much EVIDENCE that has proved DV wrong and so much bad news coming out of the city these days that DV an't even bear to post anymore, he'll probably check back sometime telling a lie about being on some lavish vacation as an excuse for not posting.

Galesi will sell it to King Philip in 2026 when the tax exemption ends.   And King Philip will get a permanent tax exemption on it claiming it's a not-for-profit.

The building is assessed for $7.5 MILLION and the super millionaire Galesi pays taxes on a paltry, A PALTRY, $250,000.

The super milionaire Galesi really need to pay his fair share, his full share, because the homeowners are paying more than their fair share of taxes because they are overassesed and McC refuses to reassess the city which is direly needed; and then on top of paying taxes on excessive assessment value, McC and his dems are making them pay additional taxes to pay Galesi's taxes!

This stuff, these FACTS, these TRUTHs, MUST be provided to the people in the city in simple plain English and the EVIDENCE is all here!

Unfortunately, people in the city have pretty much given up.

I'm certainly not defending Proctors, or Metroplex, but this is a non issue.
Bow Tie owns 18 theaters, in 5 states. All they're doing is opening new locations.
As opposed to the gin joints, they probably do need the tax breaks to remain viable, because who wants to go to that downtown to see a movie?
Crossgates was packed tonight, whereas if Bow Tie sold any more than 200 tickets, I'd be surprised.

As usual the he/she nayboob is trying to create a problem/issue that doesn't even exist.

Bow Tie Cinema is doing quite well downtown -- I have personally seen the place crowded with patrons.  Furthermore, all one has to do is actually read the facts --- Bow Tie is expanding into Saratoga County .. but it is NOT leaving Schenectady.

People are sick of the lies, asinine comments and just plain stupidity of the the nayboobs who are constantly trying to "tear down" our community.

Albany Times Union  - WILTON — A day after Regal Cinemas said it will leave Wilton Mall, the shopping center said it will put on a Bow Tie.
Bow Tie Cinemas will remodel the eight-screen movie theater while continuing its construction of an 11-screen theater in downtown Saratoga Springs.
"Nineteen screens in the zone will be very good for us," said Joseph Masher, chief operating officer for the theater chain. "We'll be able to play anything we want."
The two theaters will be four miles apart. He said Colonie Center and Crossgates Mall are closer together than the two Saratoga County locations and both manage to operate successful movie theaters.
While both will be first-run theaters that will show some of the same films, Masher said, the two will serve different audiences.
"The downtown theater will cater to upscale and independent film products with the occasional family film," he said.
The mall theater will focus on standard Hollywood fare, he said.
Bow Tie Cinemas, which runs a moviehouse in downtown Schenectady, will completely renovate the Wilton Mall theater. Regal Cinemas will close within two weeks, and the Bow Tie theater will open in November. The Saratoga Springs theater is due to open in July.
When the work is complete, the Wilton Mall theater will have stadium seating with custom-made leather rocking chairs, giant wall-to-wall screens, 100 percent digital project and Dolby digital 7.1 surround sound. The concessions will include hot food with chicken tenders, pizza and french fries.
One theater will have what the chain calls its Bow Tie Xtreme large format auditorium, with a 2,000 square foot screen and 18,000 watts of Dolby digital 7.1 surround sound.
Bow Tie Cinemas, formed in 1900, operates movie theaters in five states.
Masher said the chain had no interest in the other Regal Cinemas theater that is closing at Latham Circle Mall. That shopping center is being torn down and replaced with an outdoor shopping plaza to be renamed the Shoppes at Latham Circle.
The owners had originally planned to keep the movie theater, as well as the Lowe's and J.C. Penney's. while demolishing the rest of the mall. Mark Hebert, vice president of Grossman Development Group, could not be reached for comment Wednesday on how Regal Cinemas' decision to vacate will affect those plans.

If they are only having 200 tickets, and they can't operate without tax exemptions, then theirprices.

But actually, it's Galesi who is not paying taxes on it.  Galesi owns the building and pays an amount of taxes equivalent to just about 3 overassesed houses.

And I'm sure you can provide the financial reports of the Bow Tie????   You can provide the daily attendance numbers?   Well?????   COme one, since you claim they are doing very well, then please tell us what the numbers are?   How come the vast majority of people who talk about the place say it's almost empty the vast majority of the time?   Of course you only tell FAIRY tales from your imaginary attendance there, but guaranteed, you will NOT provide ANY EVIDENCE whatsoever.

Yep, people are sick of the LIES and assinine comments of YOU

We are NOT trying to "tear down" the city.   Quite the oppositel      But in order to help the city, the FACTS must be told, the secrets must be divulged.

People NEED to be told that the dems are refusing to lower the taxes on the homeowners and the dems are forcing the homeowners to pay the taxes of the MILLIONAIRES downtown.\

Explain DV, WHY should Galesi, who is FILTHY RICH be exempt from paying taxes while long time homeowners struggle financially to pay the highest taxes in the country, see their home values plummet and on top of that these financially struggling homeonwers are expected to pay Galesi's taxes?

Why DV, WHY????

Tell us, DV, in exchange for all the tens of millions of taxpayer dollars that Galesi and King Phillip have gotten, and in exchange for them being exempted from paying property taxes, tell us how those practices have helped the city?

We want the city to improve, we want the tax base to increase, but the FACTS are that dems policies are causing DRASTIC REDUCTIONS in the tax base and you have not provided one teen weeny shred of evidence to the contrary.!!!!!!!!

See, DV, you have never learned finances.  As you don't  have a job, no home, no wife and chidlren you would not understand finances.   It starts in the family.   When one parent loses  a job, and they need to replace the furnace in the, they tell the children that they can no longer be paid their allowance.  The furnace is critical lest the pipes freeze and burst and do substantial damage to the house.

The dems are choosing not to fix the furnace,  allowing the pipes to burst while they keep giving money out to their "children"----the multimillionaires Galesi, Hilstons, Mallozzi, Mitchell to name a FEW.

Obviously since you have no wife, children, or home or job, you don't understand finances.   Imagine if your two mommies cut off your allowance.  Where would you go if your two mommies told you you had to grow up and become an adult and find a place to live.  Many homeonwers in the city are looking for a place to live because they are losing their homes.

Hey DV, speaking of LIES, have you found any proof yet of your statement, what, two years ago, that the county taxes were lower than 50 years ago??????

Have you got any proof yet?     Why don't you provide proof?    Maybe because it's one of your lies and assinine comments and plain stupidity (because you have no knowledge at all of taxes)

The only way that I can think of as to why they are surviving, is that the movie distribution companies must be giving them a break on prices on that particular house, given that they have 17 other houses, and buy in quantity.
By the way, the reason that snacks cost so much, is that the movie companies charge them what amounts to ~90-95cents of every ticket dollar on a first run film.
The money that is left over, is barely enough to maintain the place.
A single projector bulb can run $1200. easy.
I know, I've replaced them.
It's not like screwing in a light bulb.
You need full face and body protection, and there is a $25000 rebate for the old bulb.

So, the next time you hear your favorite actor is getting $20million for their next picture, don't cheer for them, revile them, because that is one of the main reasons that movie tickets cost so much.
That, and greedy production companies.

paying how much rent? Are they paying at all? Then Galesi is doing a "service" to the democrap party and the rennaisham.

"While Foreign Terrorists were plotting to murder and maim using homemade bombs in Boston, Democrap officials in Washington DC, Albany and here were busy watching ME and other law abiding American Citizens who are gun owners and taxpayers, in an effort to blame the nation's lack of security on US so that they could have a political scapegoat."

Still no response?   You STILL have no proof of the taxes yet?????

And regarding the so called lies that you claim we tell.   The following are statements we make over and over.   Please state which ones are lies, can you do that and provide evidence to prove it/they are lie(s):

1.   The focus on downtown has resulted in a drastic reduction in the city's tax base.
2.   The spending of tax dollars on downtown over the past ten years under the dems has resulted in homeowners in the city paying almost the highest taxes in the whole Untied States.
3.    The sales prices of houses in the city is dropping while virtually all outside of the city the median prices are increasing.
4.    Homeowners in the city, who largely have household incomes of under $40,000 are paying the property taxes of the downtown multimillionaires---Galesi, the Hiltons, Mallozzis, Paul Mitchell, etc.
5.    The lavish and expensive soirees, weddings, parties, etc, held at the Key Hall are "for-profit" affairs.
6.    The Dems and plex chose to rape the taxpayers by virtue of using taxpayers' money to pay  100% profit to the pair of tax delinquent scumlords for the Hotel Foster, and then raped the homeowners by having the homeowners cover their delinquent tax bill (you see, they were/are big time annual tax delinquents and the city paid them without withholding the huge amounts they owed the hotel AND many other properties they own).
7.    People who work at the businesses/offices that have opened downtown are NOT buying homes IN the city, e.g., when NYSDOT moved in, the employees did NOT buy homes, and the employees of the successor agency also are NOT buying homes IN the city.
8.    The mayor is a liar by voting to "enforce residency laws with vigor" but as mayor has ignored that requirment.
9.    The amount of time houses (in the city) take to sell is increasing, and often can be a year or even two years
10.   Houses are selling for most often 25% lower than the city claims they will sell for.
11.   There is no need to build new apartments---at taxpayer expense--since there is an over abundance of EXISTING vacant residential units available for rent AND for sale.
12.   Despite historically low interest rates and despite incredibly low purchase prices, you STILL REFUSE to buy a house IN the city; in fact you refuse to even live in the city via renting.

So, which one of this sampling are lies?   And be sure to provide evidence that they are lies.
