We keep finding FACTS, TRUTHS, of the swindling, misconduct, and theft from the taxpayers---all in the interest of trying to improve the ctiy, (even as many of us do not live IN the city, but often what happens in the city affects us in other county municipalities).

Disgraced former Schenectady schools superintendent Eric Ely has resigned from his current job in Southbridge, Mass. after being investigated on a charge of misconduct.

...

Ely still owns a house in Schenectady, according to county property records. And up until recently, he had been receiving a STAR exemption on his home — even though he was working in Southbridge. The city's assessor has said that designation has been wiped from the property.

The "nayboobs" should take a bow, but we are much too modest.   There is no need to praise for telling the truth when the government refuses to be transparent and instead covers up the corruption between them and their political cronies.

It would have been better if the reporter wrote "....even though he was not living in his Schenectady house by virtue of living in Southbridge where he worked...."

Optimists close their eyes and pretend problems are non existent.
Better to have open eyes, see the truths, acknowledge the negatives, and
speak up for the people rather than the politicos and their rich cronies.

This is why you keep seeing propaganda in the media, not just here but nationwide, that nobody really cares where municipal employees live. They are desperate, afraid they will be forced to deal with conditions we have to deal with because of decisions they made. It is only fair that the rats deserting the sinking ship suffer like the rest of us because of the mess they create. Yes, it does matter, very much where employees live.
Good job.
I wish the papers did a better job of reporting these things. I think they don't do a good job of explaining these issues because they don't understand them.

Remember this folks when you move elsewhere!!

Other areas uphold tax and residency laws. You'll always be able to get away with illegal dealings in Schenectady as long as you were or are a friends-and-family-card-carrying-member.

Can't wait for this snake to slither his way back into the district. Sure someone will get him a job....

The school superintendents are a cult or something. They always land on their feet, no matter how terrible a job they do. They get ridden out of one town on a rail and some other community grabs them. I don't know why this happens, but it does.

That is because a UNION school district, that takes millions and millions of tax payer dollars could NEVER admit any wrong doing....it would be a black eye for the school district. They need to justify their millions of dollars even tho the kids can't spell or read or graduate! It is NEVER the fault of the 'leadership'!

A school district is 'suppose' to be the 'shinning star' in a community and they will do anything to make the sheople believe that....including lie and cheat, coupled with corruptness and cover ups!

We know a retired super from a school in the west part of the state...(he was a good super and the school was great...really).....but he did retire with his 'full salary' and 'full medical benefits'. Funny part is....he don't even live in the area anymore!!! He retired elsewhere!

That is true, bumble, but the school boards have to pick supers, and I would never hire somebody that someplace else kicked to the curb, so why do they do it? I don't understand!

Because the candidates for Superintendents are just THAT bad. It's like scraping the bottom of a septic tank...which one has the least crap on it is the winner. The good Supers aren't looking - the good districts make sure of that!!

The failing City schools with millions of dollars in their budgets attract the low-lifes, they've become quite versed in dirty money techniques (mental health centers in elementary schools, getting fed money for being dangerous, getting state funds for poor academics...etc...etc).

They play the system at the cost to the taxpayers and the students.
