SCHENECTADY — MVP Health Care laid off 68 employees today in an effort to keep health insurance affordable to its customers, said company spokeswoman Robin Wood.

Forty-one of the layoffs were at the health insurance company’s Schenectady headquarters at 625 State St., as well as its office in Center City. The rest occurred at its other locations in the Northeast.

“This was a difficult, yet necessary, decision,” said Wood in a statement.

In addition, 19.5 vacant positions were eliminated at MVP. Wood could not specify which positions were eliminated, or from which department. But she said none of the layoffs would affect customer service or ongoing company initiatives.

Wonder how this fits into the Metroplex and the PILOT agreement???

If a company loses jobs, can the City ask for it's share of taxes? Why give a company an incentive when it can't live up to it's end of the PILOT agreement?? Kinda' like when a company like Cardio Mag takes Plex funds, tax breaks then leaves the City when the taxes become due.

These little loopholes are costing the City taxpayers millions....
