Would you rather face an assailant with an AR15, or an assailant armed with only a hammer???
Seems like a simple enough question and with your data to back you up... how could you NOT
opt for the less dangerous AR15???

You have the question backwards again.  You make the assumption that any ban on AR15 would mean they disappear from earth and violent criminals would never get their hands on them.(even though we know the federal government sell them to drug cartels(fast and furious)

Since we are in the world of hypothetical’s let's pose the question properly

I assume you are a law abiding citizen for which a ban on AR15's ultimately targets, would you rather defend yourself with a hammer against an assault by a CRIMINAL with an AR15, or would you want an AR15?

Now, go ask the DNC for talking points, and put up yet another silly animated image....because that's all you got.

Texas DA... Prepared... Armed... And Expecting Trouble – Still DEAD!

Quoted Text
On January 31, in Kaufman, Texas, Assistant District Attorney Mark E. Hasse, 57,
was gunned down in the employee parking lot of the Kaufman County Courthouse by two
men wearing tactical vests. He was working on a major case against the Aryan Brotherhood
of Texas. He was armed and expecting trouble.

On March 30, Kaufman District Attorney Mike McLelland and his wife were gunned down in
their home by assassins with an AR-15 rifle. The 20+ shots killed the District Attorney
who had 23 years of military training, weapons in his home and, after his ADA was killed
less than two months earlier, was expecting trouble.

Three days later, April 2, the Federal prosecutor in Dallas, who had been working on the
Aryan Brotherhood of Texas case, walked away from the job for “security” reasons. This
prosecutor had available the blanket of security of the U.S. Marshal’s service to protect
him. He did not feel safe.

A“good guy with the gun” will, as the NRA tells us, get a “bad guy with a gun.”
In three very clear instances, the victims did not stand a chance.
They were armed,
They were prepared
and,
They were armed and trained to protect themselves and their family.
All are DEAD!

GunHuggers say that they need an unlimited arsenal to protect the home, the homestead
and society. Yet history has shown that it just doesn’t work that way.
Folks who are armed,  on alert, who are expecting danger, still can’t stop it.
The illusion that is given by GunHuggers is that somehow “they would.”
The bodies in this case prove, it is a dangerous illusion.

So what you're saying that all of them were found WITH A WEAPON on their person at the time of the crime? Because if they weren't armed, they could not have been expecting trouble in the way you described. Any of these crimes could have easily been committed with a handgun, or without a gun at all.

If and when they do apprehend the assailants(s), there's a 90% chance that they weren't legally eligible to own the gun(s) and any assault weapons ban would have done NOTHING to prevent the killings from happening.

Then why are cops armed if armed, alert, and expecting danger still can't stop it?  So are you making a case of disarming everybody or just the mundane's?

Strange thing about these killings... NOT ONE WAS KILLED WITH A HAMMER!

New York Gun Control:
Supreme Court Rejects Challenge To NY Concealed Weapons Law

The court did not comment in turning away an appeal from five state residents and the Second Amendment Foundation. Their lawsuit also drew support from the National Rifle Association and 20 states.

So now that I answered your post... how about answering mine:
Would you rather face an assailant with an AR15, or an assailant armed with only a hammer???
Seems like a simple enough question and with your data to back you up... how could you NOT
opt for the less dangerous AR15???

if our town had a law like Kennesaw GA - where a long rifle is required in every home  -  btw this than has a ZERO murder rate since the law was passed  - I would stand a better chance against both and aren't guns outlawed in DC and Chicago?? cities with murder rates of over 20 and 15 per 100,000 respectively

who are you to tell me what I can and can do in my home as a law abiding citizen? what gives you the right to determine my freedoms?  - your political party which represents lest than 1/2 of the population of the country  I live in?  - all my tools are stored and used responsibly thus I pose no increased cost to society

as a criminal I would want all the cards stacked on my side, I am not going to follow societies rules - crime is work why would I want to risk my life doing it

besides the US supreme court has ruled our police force has no obligation to protect me the citizen only society as a whole

your question can be answered by an equation - but you must include ALL variables and address both sides equally - not just one or two and your side only

how about a law mandating some Common Sense   - that might cost a whole lot less than all laws dealing with the lack of it

Governor Cuomo Says Boston Bombing Part of ‘New Normal’

Mayor Michael Bloomberg may have canceled his morning radio appearance today in response to the ongoing manhunt for a suspect involved in Monday’s deadly bombing attack on the Boston Marathon, but another top New York official, Governor Andrew Cuomo, scheduled his own radio interview on The Capitol Pressroom soon after. Mr. Cuomo directly addressed the high-profile situation in the Bay State by employing a phrase he previously used to describe climate change in the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy: “the new normal.”

“It’s a terrible situation in Boston. And, unfortunately, … one gets the sense that this is more reflective of the ‘new normal,’ if you will,” he explained. “So much of society is changing so rapidly. We talk about a ‘new normal’ when it comes t0 climate change and adjusting to a change in the weather patterns. ‘New normal’ when it comes to public security in a post-9/11 world. Where these random acts of violence, which at one time were implausible, now seem all-too-frequent.”

Additionally, Mr. Cuomo said New York police units are on stand-by and assisting authorities in Boston. The governor further noted that he worked with Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick during their shared time in former President Bill Clinton’s administration some years ago.

“I have been in contact. Our offices have been in contact and our respective officials have been talking,” he said. “I’m wanted him to know that we’re here for him. The authorities have been cooperating. We have a very good relationship with Massachusetts. They’ve been very kind to us in many circumstances … I’m a big fan of Deval’s. We were together in the Clinton administration so I know him personally and he’s doing a very good job.”

Actually hammers and hands/fists are more dangerous or at least are used to murder more people than rifles every year

"For in looking at the FBI numbers from 2005 to 2011, the number of murders by hammers and clubs consistently exceeds the number of murders committed with a rifle.
Think about it: In 2005, the number of murders committed with a rifle was 445, while the number of murders committed with hammers and clubs was 605. In 2006, the number of murders committed with a rifle was 438, while the number of murders committed with hammers and clubs was 618.
And so the list goes, with the actual numbers changing somewhat from year to year, yet the fact that more people are killed with blunt objects each year remains constant.
For example, in 2011, there was 323 murders committed with a rifle but 496 murders committed with hammers and clubs.
While the FBI makes is clear that some of the "murder by rifle" numbers could be adjusted up slightly, when you take into account murders with non-categorized types of guns, it does not change the fact that their annual reports consistently show more lives are taken each year with these blunt objects than are taken with Feinstein's dreaded rifle.
Another interesting fact: According to the FBI, nearly twice as many people are killed by hands and fists each year than are killed by murderers who use rifles."

The ZERO MURDER Rate is simply not true.

I do stand corrected I did not take into account the 3 murders in a "Gun free zone" in 2010  just like your data FAILS to mention this,   your data fails to state the conviction on 2006 for murder in 2005 that was just adjusted in feb of this year  based on GA's Stand your ground law

murder in 2004  - beating
another murder -  family member with a knife

I believe the article I read some years ago was no "gun related murders for 25 years"

another nice effect of such a law requiring long rifles in the house is the police have more respect for the society they are to protect

back to why a long rifle should be in every home

It is deterrence that makes this work. The act of keeping people from becoming violent or violating your rights by using the fear of what will occur seems to be very effective.

it seems to work on a national level also  - transfer of power to the Asian theatre, b-2 flights to south Korea.........

Kennesaw -  back then the rednecks thought it would be great to make fun of a town that passed a law banning handguns - that was later repealed

you can legislate guns in this county all you want but you are going to have a very hard time finding them all as there is near 80+ guns for every 100 people - and that is just the sn# registered - no matter what law gun law is passed american's good and bad will find away around it - just watch and wait  - the black rifle loophole has already been found and the law will become a waste of paper and tax dollars - and there will be no change in the loss of life - it would have been better to tax ammunition $.01 per/round and spend the money on mental health services and promote gun safety and use

BTW the Police in boston showed the public "great" muzzle discipline yesterday evening as can be witnessed on the BBC videos with many shots being fired in a populated area

shooting rule #4
Be Sure Of Your Target And What's Beyond It

.22 short bullet can travel over 1 ¼ miles and a high velocity cartridge, such as a .30-06/.308, can send its bullet more than 3 miles. Shotgun pellets can travel 500 yards, and shotgun slugs have a range of over half a mile.

the city of bolder Co did a wall test for bullet penetration of .223/5.56 - common ar-15 ammunition -

this bullet can penetrate the following
5/8" Gypsum on 2"X4" studs with 1/4" steel plate -

the bullet was stopped by the following
5/8" Gypsum on 2"X4" studs with 1/2" plywood    both sides and cavity filled with concrete

my home and many others are not made of these materials - neither are boats

thus many lives were put at risk during the operation

given the infrared images shown on the news other options were available
