In 2003, when the Schenectady County Legislature pushed for the extra 0.5 percent, officials said the tax would generate an extra $9 million, and that the money would aid in refurbishing and expanding the county courthouse – which has never happened. Schenectady County Legislator Gary Hughes said that now, the money is used just to offset increases in Medicaid.
You see, they are going to do the dem party thing this year, they have to vote every two years on keeping the taxes high.
