Actually, the city HAS the money to do the work since it got a Federal grant that can ONLY be spent on this project.

Secondly, it doesn't make sense to just repave a street when there is a need to upgrade the infrastructure UNDER the street and rebuild the actual road bed below the paving.   If you just repave the top -- and don't fix the other problems .. you end up having to rip up the new pavement to repair infrastructure (water and sewer lines) and the deficient road bed would cause new pot holes to form in short order.

So when you nayboobs finally figure out that the city, county, state and federal officials actually know what they are doing ( which is a whole hell of a lot more than you "armchair whiners" with no actual knowledge in the area of maintaining public works) -- you could quit your constant negativity and complaining --- maybe direct your energies to actually DOING something useful for your community and the world in general.

So now you think you have a civil engineering degree, huh?

The city "has" the money because it's a grant from the federal government.   Excuse me, but would you care to respond and tell us much in debt the federal government is?   That money would be better used on the problems resulting from the hurricanes. than to narrow a street that does NOT NEED to be narrowed, or to put up expensive fancy lamp posts when the existing ones are more than adequate.

The officials at the various levels know what they are doing?     Look at the city and county - do they know what they are doing?   Look at your savage woman who bragged about the miracle city.  Where's the miracle, DV?????   People losing homes is a miracle?   Is it?   A miracle is supposed to be something good - is paying the highest taxes in the country a miracle?   Is having skyrocking crime a miracle?   City officials know?  Tell us DV, tell us about McC who, after over a year, CANNOT get a home buying program to be successful, tell us about that one DV.   Tell us about McC knowing what he's doing that he was going to require the next police chief to live in the city, what happened there, huh?   McC knows what he's doing, he chose a felon as his poster boy for the sale of foreclosed homes in that rehab portion of his home selling program.

They know what they're doing?   Increasing taxes on taxpayers (of which you are NOT one), causing people to suffer great financial losses, putting lives at risk.

Hey DV, regarding your comment about the negativity and complaining and that the rest of us should do something for the community.   Excuse me, but we ARE doing something!   If it hadn't been for our complaining about Philip Morris getting a STAR exemption illegally, he would still have it; and of course, we have no proof that it really has been removed, and whether he has paid the money back, and we don't know if the penalty of a 5 yr prohibition on getting exemption has been applied.   See that, we DID do something positive for the community, we saved taxpayers some money by complaining that someone was getting political favors in the form of an illegal tax exemption!   But of course, you won't address that issue.

By the way, can you provide any proof yet of your claim that county taxes are lowest in 50 years?   Once again, you never answer that---why not?

Optimists close their eyes and pretend problems are non existent.
Better to have open eyes, see the truths, acknowledge the negatives, and
speak up for the people rather than the politicos and their rich cronies.

A friend of mine was working for realtor and told me that real estate agents couldn't get anyone to even consider buying a property in Schenectady once the buyer saw the high taxes and heard about the horrible school district.

For a while, buyers were overlooking the bad schools because they could get a home pretty cheap with status-quo taxes. Now the City and County have triple-over-taxed every single home and buyers would never consider such a bad investment. Poor schools, bad neighborhoods, high taxes and no jobs.

That's what the City has become, a place of bad investment. Ask anyone in Bellevue, their neighborhood is slowly becoming the gateway to hel*...homeless shelter, DSS, porno shop....
