New lighting is now installed from GE to State Ste on one side only.

The fancy double bulb colonial style lighting must be costing a fortune.

The interesting thing is now the side with the new lighting is 10 times darker than the old lights on the
side by Wendy's. It will be very dark when both sides get the new lighting,

The new lighting has twice the fixtures, but the light they throw off is like a led flashlight from the dollar store.

Someone is making a bundle selling these lights to the city.

I will try to post pictures tomorrow.

Like the lighting downtown, and the ugly metal crap they installed to "cover" the train overpass, the ugly ornamental poles underneath......

Welcome to the new green lighting, half the light at 3+ times the cost for light bulbs, unintended consequences when things are not done right.

Funny thing is that they already sell fluorescent lights that are a third of the cost and are able to be put on photocells and look just like incandescent.   I bet the LEDS are made in China.  Edison just rolled over in his grave ....Again!

With the $19 million in State grant money, the City will spare NO EXPENSE!!

Can't wait to see the gold bricks they lay out to the GE offices.

Cuomo would be weeping if he knew of this collosal waste of all this taxpayer money! It's a darn shame.

It is hardly a waste of taxpayer money.   Much needed infrastructure repairs are included in the project including rebuilding the road bed and it is interesting that the nayboobs have bitched for years about the condition of the road but now are complaining when the city is actually addressing the problem.

I am sure that Governor Cuomo would applaud the facelift to this important transportation corridor that serves as the gateway into Downtown and to the GE complex.

DV, just how stupid are you?   People have bitched about the potholes on the road, NOT about how wide it is, NOT about a lack of lighting!

DV there was ABSOLUTELY NO NEED WHATSOEVER to narrow the street, NOR for new lighting.  What was needed was to repave, or maybe rip up the EXISTING street and redo the EXISTING street, THAT IS ALL

Explain why fancy lighting is a necessity.  Explain why the EXISTING lighting is insufficient to see.   The other end, north of State St, is terrible.   Why should people who pay almost the highest taxes in the country have to pay for repairs to their cars because of neglecting the proper paving of the street.

Why is fancy lighting a better use of taxpayers money than preventing damage to peoples' cars?

I guess you support creating a traffic bottleneck for people trying to go home at the end of their workday?

But of  course, you will NOT address the issue of why fancy lighting is a necessity when those who pay for it are suffering from the highest taxes in the country and incurring costly damage to their cars!

Optimists close their eyes and pretend problems are non existent.
Better to have open eyes, see the truths, acknowledge the negatives, and
speak up for the people rather than the politicos and their rich cronies.

The  "angry turds"  (new name for Nayboobs) just like to hear themselves complain.  The best solution is to just flush them down into the sewer where they feel most at home.

You would know what the sewers feel like the most. You spend your troll-time there with the boys in the band.
