Just so people don't think I am hopelessly hard to please, I am posting an example of a good business model that others could emulate.

A while back my mother came into the city and wanted to visit a couple of businesses. One of them was Uncle Sam's Candy. Uncle Sam's is a business that has plenty of customers but that does not stop them from treating each customer as someone important. Service is competent and polite. My elderly mother was pleased with her shopping experience.

I am amazed at the number of businesses that take their customers for granted and allow their staff to effectively turn business away. Especially when the economy isn't doing all that great.

Glad they have good customer service, most places don't care anymore, used to be most did. When my Dad owned Don's Electric on Bradley St. he was very good to all of his customers, you know the kind of a guy who gets a call that a car won't start at 7am, he runs out, jumps it and says no charge.
My Mom always had a pot of coffee on and when the Sch'dy Ambulance/city/fire dept guys came in they also got a slice of cheesecake.

Me too Madam. LOVE it at Uncle Sams and my kids always look forward to those treats during Christmas, Valentines Day, Easter, etc...etc...

Remarkable how a business can create family traditions!!
