Incident early this morning around 3 am or so State St, gunplay, fighting. Thought scanner reported 10-15 shots, not 100% on that. Cops chasing people thru yards, McClellan, Furman areas. Something about a restaurant near that area, I thought all were closed by that time. Happy New Year,I think it's gonna be worse this year.
Schenectady Police are investigating what they are calling "a suspicious death" of an 82-year-old whose car was taken from the from the front of her home.
The body of Mary Greco, 82 — a former nun — was discovered Tuesday afternoon is her home at 1402 Stanford St.
There is no cause of death yet, and an autopsy is scheduled. No arrests have been made.
The victim's car, which had been parked at her home, was later found by police in the parking lot of St. John's the Evangelist Church parking lot shortly after the body was discovered.
2 women charged in theft of TV from Rotterdam Walmart ROTTERDAM AND SCHENECTADY -- Rotterdam police have charged two women in the theft of a 46-inch television from Walmart on Altamont Avenue.
Police received a call at 9 p.m. on New Year's Day that a robbery had just occurred.
After an investigation, officers determined that two women had stolen the TV and one had implied to employees while fleeing the store that she had a gun.
The pair fled the store in a red Toyota Camry, which was located a short time later by Schenectady police on Pleasant Street in Schenectady.
The vehicle was occupied by Sarah Hughes, 31, of Spruce Street in Schenectady and Alisha Vanleuven, 29, of Hillside Avenue in Niskayuna.
They were taken into custody and charged with second-degree robbery, a class C felony. They were arraigned in Rotterdam Town Court and remanded to Schenectady County jail in lieu of $10,000 bail.
The TV was later recovered at a residence on George Street in Schenectady.
The investigation is continuing; police say further charges are expected.
