On State, near Erie.

Next door to First Niagara.   Ch 13 said "an abandoned building"

And the city had to get help from Scotia and Nisky

It's obvious the city did not require the building to have certificate of occupancy in the apartments.  Look at the image of the building in google, it's obviously falling apart and also has some boarded up windows.

Perhaps he will be relocating his businesses to the holy downtown Mecca.

I wonder how much this $86,000 property was insured for?

Actually, you've got the wrong building, that is next door to it, between it and the bank.

Owner:     Ultimate Fitness Center, LLC
Address:      237 State St
Property Class:      481 - Att row bldg
Land Assessment:      2012 - $28,800
Total Assessment:      2012 - $375,000
Full Market Value:      2012 - $360,577
Last sold:        12/30/2011
Sale Price:       $1    (one dollar)
Previous Owner:     M & J Properties LLC

The taxes reference just shy of $7,000, but obviously that is not all the taxes. The county site doesn’t seem to include the sewer and water fees which must be astronomical (if downtown pays that, or maybe the homeowners subsidize that too  )  And that clearly does not include the school taxes, so it’s more like $15,000 per year based on the approximate $40 per thousand (and that IS low-balling it because it’s in Schenectady it’s more than $40 per thousand these days).

But look at the terrible condition!   You'd think the city would want to protect people from the bricks falling (just zoom in on the google image taken just over a year ago, yikes.

Perhaps the owner, after buying for $1 was hoping plex would buy it for a quarter of a million (like that quarter million that the city and plex stole from the homeowners to reward the tax delinquents owners of the Foster Hotel building which was more than twice what they bought it for, and then the homeowners had to pay the delinquent taxes too---yes, this theft from the homeowners MUST keep being told over and over)

But then, the prior owner and current owners are both LLC's so it could have been a name change too.   Maybe behind on taxes and they change their name, never know.

Then there is this:

these vacant scum buildings are a welcome site to the homeless...the drug dealers/addicts....and prostitutes.

i would venture to guess that this will be a repeating scene throughout this winter.
